Without You

   Without You

Find me wandering, like a frantic fly trapped in a
dying room, buzzing blindly against the window
pane, hunting for a ghost from his past.
What if you had stayed right here?
We are drowning in the noise of the chatter,
You see where this is going.
There is no relief from the toxic spray
On consolation left in this broken bond.

I looked to you, desperate to stay, afraid to stray.
We were supposed to be stronger, beyond hesitation.
While the kids stare into the blank screen of their
smartphones, we are rotting here at home,
Looking up at bleeding stars through eyes deeper
Then an abyss, as this dark love drags us under
Like a black moon pulling a violent tide.

The moon sneers back, knowing it must unleash
The flood. All we wanted was to catch the phantom
Of your smile. The kids whisper that they can see.
The moon is mourning for you, bleached white and
                           hollow in the dark.
Tell us it will be alright, even if it is a lie.
                           Lost, abandoned, gone forever-without you.
                           Find us in the deep.
