Trust yourself

One of the great weaknesses of political debate is this idea that there’s something called left and right and our feelings must relate to them, like one was black and one was white.  Red, blue, black, white or yellow are just the colours of filthy rags, rallying flags under which the desperate and the gullible assemble when the wealthy and ambitious say it’s time to fight.  Doesn’t do any harm to keep the hatred going in between times.

Banner-politics.  It never fails.  Those people own you.  You think they don’t?

What happens when they say it’s time to fight and you say it’s not?  They’ll call you a coward or deserter and have you shot.  Who owns you?

The people in authority used to say, “Don’t bother trying to think, we’ll do that for you.”  And when I look at what’s going on today, I see they still do.  Only it’s more subtle – slightly more removed.  We have sophisticated media now.  Sophisticated.  Hear that?  Sophisticated media.  Communications.  Yeah.  Except it’s all one way.  The way they choose.

If you really want a world that’s better, or at least as good as someone said it was before, then listen to your heart.  Turn the TV off, the radio down and listen for the truth.  It’s called reflection.  Introspection.  And it’s a crime in the eyes of authority.  You see, you might just have ideas.  Ideas that are different to theirs.

But don’t be afraid to offend.  Anyone who can’t respect (RESPECT) your point of view can’t call themselves your friend.  Remember that.

Trust yourself.

There isn’t any left or right, no black and white, only shades of grey – and the opposite of right is wrong.

But you know that already.

simple. anything a tory says must be true.

Anyone can say what they want. What really counts is how people listen.

I'm listening. All I hear is me, me, me, fuck you. That's political ideology, propaganda and economics boiled down.

Try switching channels. Is everything really as you suggest? Everyone? Everywhere? What I'm saying celt is if there's any hope for this species then people need to listen to their own conscience and not be frightened to differ just because it might make them unpopular in the pub, club, canteen or whorehouse. Everyone has a conscience in there somewhere and they ought to start listening to it instead of falling in line without thinking for themselves. I'm genuinely worried about the level of hatred in commercial and social media at the moment, and the politicians are picking this up and feeding it right back. It won't be long before someone elects Hitler or Stalin or Genghis f###ing Khan.

we don't need to elect Hitler or Stalin. Cameron then Osborne and the other side of the Atlantic any Republican will do. There's the cost buzz of low level hate, propaganda, being turned up a notch and like a frog being boiled we take it as the normal way of things. We really are running backwards into history.

The low-level hate is a two-way street. And these politicians are elected. We get the politicians we deserve. At some point we all have to stop hating/fearing. I agree we are running backwards into history. Like we've forgotten the cost. My point isn't to promote individual greed, it's to promote individual and thereby collective responsibility for all our futures. What's a good world for you is a good world for me, too. It's the mentality of gated and guarded estates that's flawed.

The lowest level of human decision making is the individual. Each individual has to look into their own heart. Think about what they're doing and what they're saying. Simple as.
