In Praise of Foibles

On waking up and jumping back into Life, capital ‘L’ life, not just inhaling and exhaling and worrying about THE OMEGA, I notice that my equipment could do with a refresh.  This is not a euphemism.  I have an iPhone7.  The current model is 17.  The only issue this actually causes is that apps like 'Vinted' (compulsory for selling stuff when you reach ‘Swedish-death-cleaning’ age) won’t work on iPhone7’s operating system.  Who cares. I'm keeping my stuff.  Instead of Swedish death cleaning, I’ll just have it all burned in a Viking longship on the beach.  Valhalla for stuff.  Stuffhalla.  Released from absorbing anyone else’s energy or being forced to reflect the personality their current curator feels the need to enshrine on their walls, person or kitchen cabinets. Liberated from further participation in Stevie Nicks days.  What of those productive artefacts of collage, cyanotyping and gelli prints?  Highly probable the V&A would want to snap those up*.  Just not off 'Vinted', unless I get with the program.  The trouble with these new toys is they are eye-boggling, switching screens if you so much as tilt them.  Bring back the double-click that doesn’t work until you hammer ‘undo’ and double-click again.  What’s wrong with having a bit of foible involved?  We don’t need hyperactive technical appendages.

Anyway, I can’t decide, lilac or green?

Am typing this on a Windows10 laptop which can also upload CDs into iTunes to make playlists for an iPod (geriatric generation) used in the car to while away the miles.  I miss mixed tapes.  Currently playlisting the soundtrack from the 1998 film ‘Practical Magic’ as the music is summery, and puts me in the mood for ‘Practical Magic 2’ coming this September.

(In my defence, it’s important to have something to look forward to - at any age).

'Vinted'; see vinted.co.uk (if you have an iPhone7)

* It may or may not be true that the V&A would want to snap up my many and varied crafty sketchbooks, but as Monty taught us, we must "Always look on the bright side of Life".  [With a capital 'L'].

I've a tenner phone. It does phone calls and texts. That's it. Windows 11. No big deal.
