RIP WELL-WISHER (JOHN NANDY)

It is with great sadness that I have to announce the death of well-wisher (John Nandy) after a short illness. John's sister, Bithika let us know yesterday and has said she and the rest of his family have been touched and comforted by the comments left on his final poem, and that they would be proud and pleased if we mentioned him on the front page.. She also sent some photos which she wanted us to include. John will be very much missed by many...

STORY AND POEM OF THE MONTH

Story and Poem for the month of June very kindly selected by Sean McNulty: Mirror World by Poetonahill https://www.abctales.com/ story/poetonahill/mirror-world I am usually wary of overtly sentimental poetry. I think it’s because I find it a very difficult thing to achieve: to write a poem, a lovely poem, a lovely sentimental poem. It takes some skill to produce something like that without the weight of artifice hanging. Luckily, here at...

June’s focus was ‘In your shoes’ and as usual, ABC writers took it their way and made the focus their own. Here are some pieces to go back to: https://www.abctales.com/story/dihard/your-shoes https://www.abctales.com/story/shannan-lea/mommys-shoes For July, the focus for Poetry Monthly is ‘Golden’. STORY AND POEM OF THE MONTH

Huge thanks to Parson thru for choosing our Story and Poem for May: Pick of the month for May 2018 Poem Pick of the month for me has to be Romance Killer by Socialeaf, 3 May 2018. Wistful thoughts on relationships, framed within an intimate moment on a beach. Stream of consciousness piece with a small child as mediator, distractedly coping with a melting ice-cream (we’ve all been there) and bringing life back into equilibrium. The author draws...

STORY AND POEM OF THE MONTH

Big thanks to Simon Whitworth/fatboy74 for this month's picks: 'I've thoroughly enjoyed reading through April's offerings on ABCtales and choosing just one pick has been particularly difficult, but here they are: Story of the month was a devil to choose, but in the end I plumped for kilb50's brilliant two part story Something Hard Inside Him. There is a convenient link to part two, at the bottom of the part one. https://www.abctales.com/story/...

POETRY MONTHLY

Poetry Monthly – May Hello everyone, Hope all’s good with you and you’re getting a whisper of spring where you are! April’s poetry focus was Mamihlapinatapai (a look shared by two people, each wishing that the other would initiate something that they both desire, but which neither wants to begin}. As usual, there was some impressive writing to have a read of. Here are three poems to discover for the first time, or to go back to: https://www...
