Story and Poem of the Week and Inspiration Point

Posted by airyfairy. It's been said before, but I'll say it again - thank you so much to everyone who took part in the Reading Night last Saturday. It was wonderful to see so many of our writers, and to hear them read. And special thanks of course to Mark Burrow for the compering and to insertponceyfrenchnamehere and onemorething for the organising. Story of the Week is jeand's 'Bitty Barby Boob, RIP'. If you've been following Jean's story, you'...

Story and Poem of the Month

Our Story and Poem for the month of March, very kindly chosen by onemorething The birds are starting to tell us that Spring is here and it’s my pleasure to choose the Picks of the Month for a blustery March. It feels like it hasn’t stopped raining where I am in England for the last few weeks so I’m looking forward to some warmth and brightness. Though reading all the wonderful writing on the site always brings its own light and comfort and ever...

'Feeding the Sea' by ABCTales writer Lem

Lem has been a long-time contributer to ABCTales. At our reading event she mentioned that 'Feeding the Sea' which she read so beautifully last night had been accepted by Seaside Gothic, so a big congratulations to her! You can buy your copy here:

As an added bonus Mark has recorded this one, due to popular demand, so if you couldn't make it we'll be posting a link once it's...

Story and Poem of the Week and Inspiration Point 17 Mar 2023

Posted by Ewan on Fri, 17 Mar 2023 An interesting week this one. The prose side of things was exceptionally difficult due to some fantastic writing by quite a few different people. Celticman’s Schmooze Control was a snarling, vivid piece that must have been as cathartic to write as it was to read . Mark Say’s A Man Called Malcolm was as good as any short story has a right to be. On any other week either of these could have been Story of the Week...

These events are always friendly, supportive and great fun, and it's lovely to see and hear new readers. Or just come along to be part of the audience! You can see the original...
