Paige Pearson is 14 years old and lives on a fairground with her parents. They run the ghost train. The only friend she has in the whole world is a 13 year old boy, Robert Smith, who's father runs the dodgems. The story begins when something sinister happens at the ghost train and, even though neither believe in real ghosts, it seems they were to be proved wrong....
