Yeah, she did and for quite a while. I know Robert well and knew Miss Adu for a short while also Their relationship is outlined in Roberts brilliant underrated novel 'In search of the Crack'. He's a journalist. Actually, he's OK, though a touch pedantic, in my view. Not quite what you might say, touched by the honeyed word. He writes for Time Out at the moment. I think he's ordinary, pedestrian, boring, nothing special, but...he went out with Sade. So, how?

Robert was a club guru in the early Eighties with Chris Sullivan (Blue Rondo Al La Turk). He used to run wharehouse parties. The last woman I went out with, who I was really, really in love with, (like you are sometimes), well I gave her a copy of "Lovers Rock", because of that song, "By Your Side". Sade reminds me a bit of her. I think anyone who can write a song like that has beauty in them. So, Robert Elms, you were a very lucky man.

Very beautiful, and that voice!! But, what I want to know now (having established that she DID go out with this ordinary bloke), is: who dumped who? Because if she dumped him, then maybe he still feels @!#$ and we should rally round and be kind, etc. But, is he dumped her, well........., to be the Man Who Dumped Sade.I bet he feels foolish now, if he did.

I am concluding that Robert Elms is a nice and decent bloke, and he deserves respect for having gone out with Sade. Even to have had the nerve to chat her up is something.
