Intolerable Cruelty

Intolerable Cruelty - another class act from the Coen Brothers, although they collaborated this time with some other writers and producers.

They deserve to have a massive hit after all the ace films they've produced. This one has a really good cameo from Billy Bob Thornton, but the main thing going for it is the chemistry between George Clooney and Catherine Zeta-Jones. When did they both get this good?

My favourite of theirs still remains "O Brother..." but that was in a different league altogether. This is good fun, though judging from the handful of cinema-goers I don't think it will last at the UCI for more than another week at best.

Will be up for Golden Globes & Oscars though - acting ones, and maybe best original screenplay. Has anyone else seen it?

George Clooney is a major draw in this - not only is he absurdly good-looking, he's also extremely funny and, unlike many major stars, has a genuine interest in making intelligent movies ...

Have you seen the one he directed - Confessions of a Dangerous Mind? Brilliant. But not as good as The Gong Show Movie. That was a classic.

Fargo is one of the best films ever imo. O Brother is very close to it as it Big Lebowski. Now this film concerns me. A romantic cohen brothers comedy? I dont know how this can be any good. But will go and find out.

Don't worry Spag, it isn't mushy romantic like Sleepless in Seattle. Lots of their films seem to discuss marital relationships, and this is no exception. I love The Man Who Wasn't There too, Flash. The tone is so perfect.

Fargo exxxxcellent. Isn't the name "Intolerable Cruelty" reeking with irony and power? I think I would like to be a Coen brother in my next life.

Hah! I've just gotten back from seeing this! I was glad to see that they still have a lot of class and they're still up to making refreshingly quirky films. (I wasn't too impressed with "O Brother..." My favorite Coen Brother outing is "Fargo" followed by "Raising Arizona.")
