Barry Wood's 'I don't believe in God'

Just to add my two-pence worth..... Barry's writing is always lean, like a decent steak - just meat and no gristle, unlike my "super-value economy hamburger" efforts (heh!). Every word justifies its existence on the page, which makes me very jealous! I'm finding that the most difficult skill to acquire. It's all too easy to waffle on for pages when a few lines would do. Who else finds it difficult to trim the excess? I certainly do. And yes, the writing is very believable, almost too believable - though Barry insists his stories aren't from personal experience..... ;-D So, why isn't this story of the day? (Does the 18 rating count against it?)

I consider Barry as a friend so I wouldn;t want to influence anyone. But this is brilliant. Barry's best work yet.

Well done Barry, I too consider you a friend. It's scary to consider the limits we'll go to when pushed. I once contemplated killing someone. Not for very long, and I was talked out of it by my mate, Vini, in New York. But he'd stolen a lot from me and others, and after three days of attempting to get all my jewlery and other possessions back (all of which had sentimental value) I was just at the end of my tether. I doubt if I'd have really gone through with it, but I just felt like fighting back. Scary though. I'm in the process of writing about it actually. I'll post it up on ABCtales when it's done. Keep writing

I know i told you this in private, but I will say it again for the list. I think that your ability to speak in first person as if it's actually happening to you is ASTOUNDING> It's really neat to think that you can come up with all of this in your head. That is the key to perfect fiction, making people feel like, "hey, did this really happen?" I know that I finished reading and thought, "Oh, my, did this happen to YOU, Mr. Author or do you just have a FABULOUS imagination?" Great Job, Barry! --AMFM :) "aforbing"

Excellent work, Barry. Puts the reader into the mindset of the subject. The main characters and story are so believable and real to the reader. Entwines one's thoughts into all 3 people concerned and makes you feel thier emotions exactly. The story and suspense keep you interested until the last surprise ending. Keep up the good work!!!!

An interesting read -- it draws you right along to the conclusion. It's a difficult subject and the story is well told. The characters are believable, not an easy thing to do in a short story. Well done Barry!
