Cocktails
I have spent all weekend drinking Cuba Libres (and yes, I am now recovered thank you before anyone grabs the obvious joke and runs with it)
and it occurs to me that there is nothing lovelier than drinking cocktails with friends... last weekend we sampled B52s, B55s and white russians...
anybody care to give me a recipe for their favourite cocktail? (no gin!)
Or even this one...
Mudd Pack. :)
Amaretto
Creme de menthe
White rum
Applejack
Tomato juice.
Mix all the shit together and drink it.
Strawberry Daquiri:-
2 oz Light Rum (I prefer to use 3-4 oz)
1 oz Lime Juice
1/2 oz Triple Sec
1/2 tsp castor Sugar
1 cup Ice
5 or so Strawberries
put in blender blend , pour, enjoy
I don't think you can fault Pimms Royale - very simple, you make a Pimms and lemonade in the usual way (mint, cucumber, strawberries, slices of orange), throw away the lemonade and replace it with champagne. But be warned, it bites.
(Not to the extent of the Angel Beach Iced Tea, where you make a normal Long Island Ice Tea - vodka, white rum, tequilla, gin, triple sec, sugar-syrup and Pepsi, and then throw away the Pepsi and replace it with champagne. I was utterly refreshed after one glass, and the second glass made me go temporarily blind)
Are you a magician Andrew, how do you throw away the lemonade after you've already made the drink?
You know what I mean - I could have used the word 'substitute' but mine sounds more dramatic. But yes, I am a magician at heart.
Take one pint of Young's bitter add nothing and garnish with fresh air.
Singapore sling - by a random mile, the best cocktail ever. Tastes of strawberry bubble gum. I think it's sloe gin, cherry licquer... err... sours... that red stuff... grenadine? Aggh!! All that time as a barman and my skills are slipping away! That'd be the result of drinking the fruits of my knowledge...
I don't really know if I've ever had a cocktail. But Bacardi Breezers and Southern Comfort (when we'd run out of lemonade) decimated one of my parties.
Agree about Singapore Sling...nice - but, couldn't tell you what was in it, so long ago...
My last party turned into a real disaster thanks to some truly vicious cocktails and drinking games.
After spending several hours randomly mixing alcohol in the blender and rapidly drinking the results both myself and my future brother in law were completely wrecked.
After an hours solid puking from both of us..(lucky I have two toilets) We both passed out...
The next day to our utter humiliation we discovered that my Husband and my Sister had taken it upon themselves to video the entire event....
Somewhere hidden upon these premises is footage of me puking, claiming that I am going to die, demanding that someone ring both an ambulance and God!, me telling my husband that I hate him, telling my sister that I hate her stripey socks, shouting my son to phone the police because 'Auntie Lynn is trying to poison me with water', banging my head several times on the bedside table and finally falling head first out of bed!
Still I suppose I should be grateful that was all thay'd taped, Malcolm had managed to strip naked before he'd crashed into his bed!!
cocktails are just drinks for children who can't stomach the taste of normal drinks and are fooled into believing that adding coloured liquid sugar makes it somehow magically stronger and the aclohol somehow different.
These are the people who believe that soda water, when banged on a table, creates extra quick chemistry and are willing to pay an extra quid for the priveledge. They mix it with Tequila, one of the least pure grain alcoholic drinks commercially available, the Mexican equivalent of moonshine.
Some even set fire to their drinks, not really understanding that the alcohol will be the only thing burning away, in the hope that it will make the drink more dangerous. Well it will but only if you lean over it. They're loeft with a mildly alcoholic glass of pop that they've just paid five quid for.
No they arent. They're for people who aren't stuck in such a grind they cant bear to try anything new.
Thats what cocktails are for... fun.
Yes have to agree with Liana, cocktails can be fun,
and I hardly think that she can't stomach the taste of real alcohol as her favorite tipple is neat vodka!!
I tried something new on saturday - they told me it was 'Honey mead' - it was lovely so I had two glasses of it - I found out that it was some kind of oral lubricant (rocket fuel)
What transpired was - well I ended up having a lecture from my daughter in the nearest public toilets - we were at a beach party - she told me to stop asking people questions and to behave
she also wanted to know why I wanted to know, in such great detail, all there was to know about wind surfing, sail boarding and wet suits. After all I had never shown an interest in such things before ...
Actually, I do like to mix vodka with Bollinger champagne.
Bolly Stollies.. yum.
God ... I was BORN to be rich, me. How come I ended up poor?
karma
Probably.
Too many Bollie Stollies = too many lolly follies
whiskey sour....there's whiskey in it and other stuff..
I'd sooner have a fresh cream meringue anyday.
The only thing I hate about cocktails is poncy West End bars thinking it is cool and original to give cocktails erotic names..."Sex on the beach", "Slow comfortable screw", "Slippery nipple", "Mind-shattering triple orgasm" "Long hard one"etc. It's tired, boring and quite pathetic really.
Ooh, now we're talking. My favourite (at the moment) is a Bellini.
Half Prosecco (the infinitely nicer Italian version of Champagne) and one half fresh peach juice. Yum Yum Yum.
Haven't got a cocktail receipe, but this week-end I really enjoyed a couple of beers, which I haven't done for ages. Pedigree was an old favourite, seems I haven't lost the taste...
I once knew a guy that could hang a wheelbarrow tyre on his erect cock, or so he said, I never actually witnessed this amazing feat you understand. I don't have the recipe but I don't believe there was any gin involved.
(Hope you like this one Liana!)
*PURE BLISS* :)
Tequila
Orange Juice
Champagne
Pour champagne over crushed ice add the orange juice and then add the splash of tequila.
