The weather seems to make a big difference, Fish. Yesterday seemed to be a bad day for being nice. I heard more car horns blasted in anger - which is quite rare here - in just one hour than I've heard in all the rest of the time I've been here! Mind you impatient tourists, school holidays and grey rainy days...
I will nicely apologise in advance for the following.
There's a Mars/Pluto square that's perfected today, Smiley. Do expect that people will not be as nice as they ought to. The influence is very...combative.
Let's all try to be -extra- nice, in that case. Even to the Thought Police.
*puts a daisy into Poison Pen's inkpot*
I thought I was quite nice in the wee early hours despite being accused of snidey pouncing for suggesting that Stormy and Liana were very similar Virgos :o)
People will get annoyed, sooner or later, whatever you say - being nice is more about trying to ignore them when they strive to be offensive.
Too early for cake for me, Rachel, but enjoy...
Thank you, Rachel. I would love some cake. Victorian sponge cakes are my favourite.
I don't think one has to talk utter drivel in order to be nice. Perhaps the question, if I may be so bold, should be: what is utter drivel? Isn't that a subjective term? Certain parties enjoy talking about more esoteric subjects; certain other parties enjoy talking about the latest Arsenal game, or why Tony Blair is such a tit (in their nicest opinions). I love discussing global politics, metaphysics, religion, and astrology. Some here (clearly) don't. But is that a bad thing?
What I'm (nicely) suggesting, is, as Liana put it, shouldn't we live and let live?
Mmmmm. This cake is deLICIOUS! *pats mouth with rose-scented serviette*
Kitchen conversation last month.
Me: I'll make some tea.
Shelley: Would you like a nice piece of cake with it?
Me: Yes please.
Shelley: Oh, we haven't got any, I just wondered if you fancied some.
Anyone know a good Anger Management counsellor?
[%sig%]
I had a friend who used to keep a cabbage on a piece of string and take it to night-clubs. I think his pet cabbage had a name but I don't know what it was, or how he kept it fresh (perhaps it was like a buttonhole flower - new every day). He wanted to be an artist but became a bolshi Arts lecturer at the local Poly-technic (now Hudds Uni). He's not what I'd call old though - more middle aged - but I suppose the cabbage will be knocking on a bit.
*Anyone know a good Anger Management counsellor*
Yes. But he is to busily manging his anger, Smiley.
Nice to see every one getting along today.
Makes such a percent change from the usual pointless quibbling. ~:
It's not impossible, Maxwell. He was a friend of Billy Curry who ended up playing violin for Ultravox... such people get around a lot and start trends.
Not sure if it was Curry or Currie but it was pronounced curry.
I think it was all the blotting paper they used to consume... but that's another story.
ah, the old blottin paper, eh? My first time, I was 15 and this lad I knew at school had a shady cousin and this shady cousin got me a mickey mouse wrapped in a bit of tin foil. I dropped it when I got back from school and spent the night with my dad watching cricket in the lounge. Pissing myself laughing I was. Cricket! lol. Fucking cricket! The walls began to breathe and I ended up sitting outside eating an egg custard and listening to my dad shouting "he bin in my pewter?" "who's been in your pewter?" "Soft lad outside."
hehe...
That's the sort of thing, Maxwell, and little laughing faces in your cocoa which you eventually realise is your reflection... but it takes a few years - so you're usually halfway down your cigarette by then ;o)
I had a wonderful evening last Wednesday.
I've had four similar evenings, dating back several decades.
I had FIVE CUPS of excellent Turkish coffee!
All the CUPS were made of finest silver.
And I got to keep the FIFTH CUP!
Remarkably pleasant, I must say.
Fishie, I do hope you've remained UTTERLY ADORABLE since last we met.
I know I have.

Dey Do De Dudek Der Doh Don't Dey?
On the subject of Cake. I've been scoffing Jamaican cake and hot custard, these past weeks.
Bloody tasty to. Will have to cut back though, being figure Conscious and all. ~:
Dose any one remember a band called Cream?
Think they were around the Shadows rear...
I may be making them up in my head, but I'm sure I went to one of the gigs as a kid.
Missi, you would know.
Cream was fronted by Slow Hand himself, I believe. Mr. Clapton, with a funny, frizzy hairdo and cravat. He was just as ugly then as he is now, but the music was better.
hello martini tim and foxy ... how lovely to see you here in the unremitting pink and fluffiness of the abc forums ...
do you see how i used an "!" in my greeting ... do you think it makes it seem somehow jolly and unthreatening?
I knew what you meant on both counts, Rachel :o) I was ready to go shopping and I didn't want the conversation to turn to cake or I knew I would return with a BlackForrest Gateau or a Chocolate... anyway, i have returned without even a fruit yoghurt - but I'm weakening...
oh foxy ... too kind!
so what lovely things have been going on in the fox household today?
i have filled the paddling pool for mo the dog and she has been snorkelling ... that was lovely ...
I was ordered, in a nice way, into the garden by my very nice wife to finish off the cutting back of hedges that I started doing yesterday... which was nice.
I could tell you all about Cream (who gigged at the RAH recently) but this is a 'nice' thread and I'm struggling in the face of the ever present schoolboy.
Ask me on another thread, Holmes.
utterly charming ... she sounds delightful ... i hoped your bush trimming was nice and straight?
a friend of mine ate two pork pies ... TWO! ... now things don't get much nicer than that ... do they?
Two Pork Pies! One doesn't think one would be able to even imagine that level of niceness.
For whom will you be broadcasting in your new role as wireless presenter? Pray tell...
Wot a load of bollox!!!!
Only Joking. What a lovely still summers evening we're all having here in Corby, Northamptonshire...Rose of the shires.
I just ate half a tub Haggan Daaz vanilla ice cream, which was very nice indeed.
It's ok Mr. Smiley. Nice thought but I have had my cake and eaten it. And they told me I couldn't, Tsk. I am a big fan of Cream. And Strange Brew, although not in current state.
yes two! ... foxy ... i'm not sure yet which radio station i shall grace with my dulcet tones ... i expect whichever one will be just perfect!
vanilla flash, how super! ... would you like me to pop over and finish the other half for you? ... corby is only 20 mins in the car and i am keen to extend the warm dry hand of friendship across the shires ...
Well I've had an absolutely splendid day walking in the country side. The sun was sinning, the birds were singing and the dogs were playing.
And now this thread. How refreshing.
Why surely Flashster. He thinks that their price strategy is somewhat, well, effin expensive and is probably only not responding to this thread himself due to a picket he has organised at Ben and Jerry's.
Erm...if this wasn't the utterly nice thread, i would have said that was a veiled threat of extreme violence!!
Sorry i ate the other half yesterday, or i would gladly have posted it to you. We can't have a nice lady like you endangering your good self by visiting Corby.
