Luther: A Thousand Kisses

A related thread to the JB one.

Poor Luther. Such a young man, such a pure voice.
Sang bv's on Bowie's 'Young Americans' and made that album work really. He was brilliant with his band 'Change'. He sang at the original 'Live Aid' an odd coincidence considering what day it is today.
He went very corny and 'Mariah' after that. but the voice was still supreme.
He had troubled life that has a direct parallel to The late Marvin Gaye whom he idolised .

Tragic

'A thousand kisses.'

Aw.. that voice was lovely. I remember years and years ago, steve wright (when he had a morning show) told a long involved joke which ended with the punchline "Look at the van Ross!" I cant recall the joke, or I'd use it in tribute.

Yep, couldn't agree more. Fabulous voice. And who is touring this country at the moment? Al Green. What is it that black people have over white people when it comes to singing this kind of music? And I realise that's a racist viewpoint. [%sig%]

HAHAHAHA HOW is that a racist viewpoint? It happens to be true, so why should it be called racism to suggest it? This bloody racism thing is getting totally out of hand. Pretty soon it will be frowned upon to even express that there's different races on the planet.

Um, Elvis was thought to be black until people saw him. Nat King Cole was thought to be white. Until people saw him. Voice has little to do with anything other than a natural talent, the current influences in music, and lots of practice. Then again, sometimes practice doesn't even help....

And Missi, it has been proven, time and time again, by hard scientists: geneticists, in fact, that there. is. no. such. thing. as. race. Race is a social construct, generally used to enforce certain inequalities. Race was a term invented by middle-aged Western men to justify why they should dominate countries where people have different coloured skin. There is less than .0001 percent difference between a 'black' African and your lily-white arsed self, genetically, and that is simply a difference in gene expression of skin pigmentation. There -are- differences in ethnicity, which is why you can have Colin Powell, a black man who acts like a white man; and Eminem, a very white man who is as black, culturally speaking, as one can be. Jeez O. Flip.

Race - Ethnic origin Ethnic origin - Race Sounds the same to me, but then what do I know? .0001% difference? That proves fuck all. OK, you tell me something. If there is so little difference between indiginous Africans (by which I mean sub-Saharans) and indiginous Europeans/Caucasians how come one group has developed to the point where they can put a man on the moon and the other group can't even put roofs over their heads and fill their bellies. And DON'T give me crap about white men subjugating the life out of black men. Even before white men invaded Africa they were a thousand years behind them. Colin Powell is a ridiculous example to hold up, just as the many other educated Africans/ African Americans are. I'm talking about the big picture, not individuals. They percentage of 'Colin Powells' in Africa ais even smaller than the percentage you quote above. You obviously haven't seen my arse by the way.
