Hey

Has anyone noticed that today's date is:

02/02/02

Jus thought I would mention this as I thought it was cool, it won't happen again... it is a unique happening..

Most of the day has pretty much gone now though.. so I pretty much missed most of it.

Am I the only saddo who gets excited about this sort of thing?

Stomry, Personally I would be very wary of any offer of entry by the tradesman's from Mississippi. Call me cautious. The only prize you win is the utterly priceless kudos of Getting It Right - the adulation of your fellow human beings, the congratulations from ABCtales staff and a deep-seated sense of satisfaction and achievement. Call me tight-arsed.

dear cautious, your tradesman's entry warning has been well heeded thankyou. I'm not so sure if 'deep seated' is an appropriate sense of satisfaction for me to feel given your concerns re bandit offers. I think I will simply bask. thank you all so much. mwah.

No way, Funky! This sort of thing excites me too! I was actually thinking yesterday, 'Hey, tomorrow will be 02/02/02, how cool.' And then I had to stop, because the phone rang and it was my boss. But I was definitely pleased by this.

Yeah! I was also trying to figure out when the next one of those will be, Vicky. I really need to work harder, and not have enough free time to wonder about these things. But they are pretty good

has anybody else had to stop wearing a digital watch because of this? I can remember waiting for 11.11 on the 11th November. It's still really vivid... Just thought I'd, y'know, ask...

Don't sulk Vicky! I promise I'll celebrate your date too! :-) By the way, the 6th of Febuary is, according to my calender, Waitangi Day. It sounds worthy of celebration, but what is it exactly?

Question: On 2nd February two years ago the date was made up wholly of even numbers. It's happened many times over the last two years but what was the previous day on which this happened?
Vicky

30.12.00 if you count them as a whole numbers 08.08.00 if you don't.

Waitangi Day commemorates the signing of a treaty at Waitangi on 6 February 1840 by a group of Maori chiefs and the British Government, represented by Lieutenant-Governor Hobson. The treaty was subsequently signed by other Maori chiefs in various locations throughout the country. The question of what obligations the Treaty of Waitangi placed on each side has been a subject of contention ever since. Waitangi Day has been commemorated since Governor-General Bledisloe gifted the treaty house and grounds to the nation in 1932. The gift and the events of 6 February 1840 were first officially commemorated there two years later. In the last 25–30 years the style and mood of the commemorations have been influenced by the increasingly heated debate surrounding the status of the Treaty of Waitangi in modern-day New Zealand.

Vicky, no. count each individual digit, so 30.12.00 has a one in it and if 08.08.00 is in the year 2000 it's after 2 Feb that year and if its 1900 it has a one in it.
