Thought I might start a cheerful thread for once.

I went for a long walk yesterday with a friend.. and it was great, totally sorted my head out. Everything was in bloom.. all the trees and bushes.. it looked like paradise on earth. The air was full of scents.. and although I felt my hayfever coming on.. and sneezed a few times.. I didn't mind.. I was blissed out.

We walked through some meadows.. I felt overwhelmed by the combined stimulation, of sights, smells and sounds.. the sun shone and it wasn't too hot.. just right.. butterflies, birds and bees.. and my dog Ben leaping and sniffing - running free, in his own world. I felt happy.

Getting lost in some woods. No worries about time, or having to be anywhere. Wondering which paths to take, the bluebells carpetting the floor around.. like something out of a fairy tale. Stopping at the occasional stream, that sounded so good, you just had to chill by it.. and listen.

In the early evening - standing on a hilltop, looking out over a view.. as the sun began to set. I just felt really blessed and alive..

I found a lot of healing..yesterday, just from spending time in nature, away from the politics of the concrete world.. sometimes I guess I don't realise how lucky I am at the moment.. I might be in a dull dead end town.. but I live near some picturesque countryside, that has a lot of history. And it's only a short walk away as well. And it's free, doesn't cost anything to go on a walk. To sit on a hilltop, and watch the sunset. Is a natural high I forget about.

And I just thought it was amazing.. how beautiful this country can be sometimes. I jus really dig this time of year. I kind of had visions of medieval England and the Celts riding through the old countryside on horseback.. imagined what it might have been like back then.

Some of the countryside near where I live is ancient.. and has been left untouched.. not interfered with.. so is kind of a remnant of what it might have looked like, before the industrial revolution.

I guess sometimes I moan about the boredom.. and yearn to travel abroad, move away to the city; but the countryside here, can take my breath away.. I know I would miss it if I moved back to the city. If there is a God, then he created a beautiful world for us man.. and it's a shame we have to spoil it with the concrete, steel and road structures.

The only reason though I was able to see all this was because of my friend who kept going on about how beautiful it all was.. like a child she was, sniffing the flowers and standing in awe of the trees and the butterflies. She kept saying how jealous she was of it.. cause she lives in the inner city.

Made me think really.. helped me to see things in a different light. People save up to go away on holiday to Spain or whatever.. but I wonder if they ever take time to really look at and appreciate the beauty which surrounds them in the English countryside.

We live in a beautiful country really.
