Sick, sad, world

I posted a message on the site a couple of days ago, trying to be supportive about two writers on the site that I would go out and buy...I don't write, I have no desire to write but I do love reading...but there are people who use this site as nothing more than an abusive forum, all I can say is get a life, if you are that jealous of others just go away and let the rest of us get on with it.

For the record I did the elavator thing because hey we've all said things along the line of famous people we would like to be stuck in an elevator with...it's a nice change to say people you've never met...might make for an interesting talk, like do writers and their work have a lot in common?

Two favourite poems I didn't mention, I just mentioned the writers are Ivoryfishbone "a wrong feeling" and Andrew Oldham "Ghosts of a low moon".

Trying supporting each other, you might actually achieve something.

the world is sicker and sadder than we could imagine. one cannot expect from any kind of forum or chat room or whatever electronic form of communication to stay out of this condition... humans are involved in this, so they will express their weakness their sickness their cattines. What can we do about it? Ignore them. There are people that are supportive and kind like you like me. We'll try to make difference in this sick sad world take care

this issue has been discussed in great detail so many times, but things don't seem to improve. Threats were made on one forum, nastiness abounded. The Editors took off an abusive thread a move which I support. It seems that people feel safe to abuse others from behind a computer screen and woud say things they would never dream of saying face to face. I think on the whole contributors to the forums are pretty fair, there's some piss take but mostly in good taste. Those who do abuse, do so with anonymity as a cloak, and probably sit back and enjoy the harm and chaos they cause. It's probably better to ignore them, but when they criticise people you like, or are racist, homophobic, sexist, etc, you feel you need to challenge them, which of course is what they wanted in the first place. intelligent debate should be what it's all about...but it seems some people like to abuse others on the site, and while the techo people at abc can exclude individuals temporarily, they can come back in other forms, using other pcs,. different user names... glad i got that off my chest...

I'd just like to thank cannbryant, it's nice to know your work is appreciated. It is a sick world we live in where people can't support each other, you think the events of Sept 11 and the ongoing circle of violence would have taught us something. I and other writers like me need to feel part of a community where frank and honest discussion can take place, not the kind of bitter criticism that comes from the anonymous hack who hides behind their keyboards, armchair terrorists, too fat, bloated and stupid to take a physical stand against anything beyond the screen. To those who believe there is strength in numbers and in open and honest debate, I will always listen, to the others I will always close my ears and eyes so I don't have to hear or watch you drown in your bitterness. ABCtales is a wonderful place to listen, for writers and readers alike.

i too thank you for your kind words ... very glad you like "a wrong feeling" ... i think the trick is to ignore what you don't like on the forums ... but be assured that comments about work are much appreciated ...
