Bus Pass and BPL go to Demon’s Rocks [or Edinburgh, to see Dracula’s*]

Bus Pass was champing at the bit, and couldn’t understand why Bus Pass Lady (BPL to those in the know) wasn’t writing about their recent triumphant trip to Edinburgh for BIBA, Ballet and Books.  (BPL justified the books as there was a tenner token on her Waterstone’s card which Blackwell’s accepts (in-store only)). God bless Blackwell’s, for what finishes off a lovely day better than a new book?  Well, chocolate cake and a nice cup of tea, which BPL also had in the handily positioned Café Nero tucked into Blackwell’s ground floor, like a Hobbit house.  Diabetes, Greek god of sugar*, smiled on them.  Toothless, gummy sort of a smile, but still…

BPL said she was just warming up to writing again, so didn’t feel like trying to finish the Enid Blyton titles and anyway, couldn’t remember which ones were left.  Bus Pass often thought BPL was very far up her own arse, but knew that, while honesty is generally held to be the best policy, ‘silence’ supersedes, in some cases.

But Bus Pass was still aglow from that trip, where they not only caught the 900 from Glasgow, with a Gregg’s breakfast special**, but had Googled Edinburgh bus stops to figure out which Edinburgh bus went near Dovecot and The Festival Theatre (31,37), and how to get back to Princes Street.  Not only that, but the sublime synchronicity of stepping off the 37 at bus stop PU and right onto the 900 back to Glasgow two minutes later.  Simply thrilling.  Especially as BPL acted daft, as is the way of Bus Pass Ladies, and pretended not to realise there might be a queue, as the 900 had stopped right where she was standing.  Omnibus, god of all bus passes, had smiled upon them on that blessed day for sure.
