Wife of Bath

Anyone catch this last night??? I'm not familiar with the original version but I thought this was an exceptionally good piece of drama...I love how it didn't tie up neatly at the end..that it showed how lives continue...very impressed with Mr Chaucer
but I missed the writer's name...

I thought "Billie's" bum was rather nice, very rounded in fact, although I wasn't under the impression that it was her bum at all. I just naturally thought it was a stand-in's. Just goes to show what I know. I got my dad to video this week's programme as my wife was watching something on the other side about a doctor's family who insist on eating together even though they argue through each and every meal. Very strange. So it wasn't until I got back from the pub last night that I watched it. I thought the combination of Julie Walters and Jaw from EastEnders was magnificent. Whatever you say about Julie Walters, she's a sport, isn't she? She continually takes these demeaning rolls. And she does it so well! On her ability to make her acting appear completely natural, she's surely the best in Britain. She is so down to earth! Jaw added a smile but little else.

The BBC convers this extensively on their website: Click the 'write your own tale', near the bottom is a link to a synopsis of the original stories. Didn't get to see it last night but did tape it. [%sig%]

It was magnificent - even taking some great lines from Chaucer and including them in the modern script without missing a beat. I had wondered how they would deal with the gap-toothed woman when they had the very un-gappy Julie Walters as the lead but again they managed it with great skill. It was a fine piece of drama in its own right and had double the thrills if you knew the original well (it was my A level text - OK so that was back in the depths of time but I still remember it). I'm sorry I missed the first one but look forward to the Knights Tale next week. There is a writing comp associated with it - I will try and get round to entering and I hope many of you will too. Let's win it for ABC.

i've video'd yesterday's too. What did you think of last week's though? I thought Billie was terrible. her bum didn't look real either. James as dashing as ever but really crap version of the story. Not really that funny.

Ye..wasn't that convinced about last week..think the writing faltered a bit...it didn't flow like last nights. Can't say I noticed Ms Piper's bum.... maybe it came out when I was making tea!!!!

blimey that's the bit everyone was talking about..The singer boy guy asks her for a kiss when she's in the house and he's outside in the garden. So she thinks it's funny to tell him to close her eyes and then she sticks her a.rse out for him to kiss. i'm sure her a.rse was plastic.
