New Story and Poem of the Week!

What do you think of the story and poem of the week?

I think they're great, but then again, I did choose them.

I enjoyed The Winding Key very much. I really liked the idea of the clock shop, and the funny touches. I felt that it could have been longer, with more about his brother's obsession with the clock.

QUOTE: "If I were naught but dust, I would wish it to be that of a star". Ravished by all that to the eyes is fair, Yet hungry for the joys that truly bless, My soul can find no stair To mount to heaven, save earth's loveliness. For from the stars above Descends a glorious light That lifts our longing to their highest height And bears the name of love. Nor is there aught can move A gentle heart, or purge or make it wise, But beauty and the starlight of her eyes. I SAW THE ANGEL IN THE MARBLE AND CARVED UNTIL I SET HIM FREE. Michelangelo Buonarroti (1475-1564) "Failure is to procrastinate; while courage is to act"! Please consider.....as I don't draw straws, neither!

I like Dan's story. It is a brilliant combination of the ordinary and the peculiar...it has good pace...is scary...um...and I liked it. (It is weird, I'm sort of imagining my flat about the chip shop is the flat about their shop, and this will freak me out when I go home later for my tea).

Agree, "The Winding Key" is a super story - a bit scary, but after all what can clocks do except tell the time ... unless you stick your finger in?? Great for rising tension between the brothers and insignificant words being imbued with sinister meaning. Good choice, Mark, and congratulations, Dan!

Both very good choices I think. Especially Dan's story. I love it.

Yes, both great choices. The story kept me fully engrossed those whole way through, I'm a sucker for the genre anyway and admire anyone that can pull it of like Dan has here. Ben

I really liked your story Dan. Genuinely creepy. At first I was kind of thinking, "Clocks, scary? I don't think so!" But soon I was hooked in. Well done.

I'm just happy to see that both the Marble and the Statue are very complimentary of each other, in both their very inspirational and very individual states/manners. Both must also realise that potency has nothing to do with merit, whatsoever, and everything to do with potential and gift! Quote: "Since no sensible magnitude is infinite, it is impossible to exceed every assigned magnitude; for if it were possible there would be something bigger than the heavens. Now Mrs Burinsmith, speaking of INFINITY here, this poem of yours reminds me of that vagabond boy whom use to run around Sydney painting simply the word, 'INFINITY', over all its public landmarks! But then we also had an interesting Aussie legend named, AJ Bouke, whom went to England once. He wrote amazing Political Polemics, but I thought he was murdered here in Australia for being far too outspoken about the horrors of this thing called Democracy promoting Charlatans and Demagogues....Bushwhacker's them Politicians? Please tell me whom!
