Youngabctales
I've just checked out Youngabctales (sorry, guys, I'm a bit slow) - and I think it's brilliant!
Well done, ABC.
I think there should be a permanent link to Youngabctales on the front page...
Anyone agree?
Hi
I'm the editor of youngABCtales.com. I take your point about not having a link back but the reason we have decided to put one on is because I keep getting lots of adults submitting work to the young site!
Any comments you might have about the site are most gratefully received- I know the search engine can be a bit sticky but it is undergoing transformation as I type.....
Good point, never thought of that (too honest, is my trouble).
What bloody twits (the adults submitting work to YABC, not us lot, natch).
what do you think about the fact that we don't actually edit the kids' work?
Edit in what sense? Grammatical errors? Spelling mistakes? Offensive content?
I think the little darlings' (yuk) S/G mistakes could be seen as quite charming and should maybe be left alone (unless, of course, they've made terrible typos, as in "Can I buy something sweet at the *uck shop, Ma?).
Offensive content? I can't imagine (shock, horror!) that such young, tender souls would produce anything in the slightest way offensive...
If I were you, I'd check it out - and sharpish!

Sorry- should have made myself a bit clearer- we do read everything that goes up on the site. Any offensive words mean that they are automatically put onto a swearing filter and we consider them carefully. The editing that I generally haven't been doing (unless the work is completely incomprehensible) is spelling, grammar etc.
The reason that I asked was because I was wondering whether people thought that, although the mistakes can be quite endearing, their presence meant that we did not represent the writer's talent at its potential best. I am a (somewhat cynical) secondary English teacher of eight years and know that kids don't like to put their work on display if they feel that it has any typos in it. Saying that, we don't actually have the time to go through every story and check every tiny mistake.
yep! not so sure about a link back though. can't have little innocents stumbling into this forum.
I'm still trying to persuade my own kids to write and submit.
persuading your kids to write....good idea?
have had a potter around youngabc, it's good quality and think it is a good idea to have a link, altho stormy is right about perhaps not having one back.
Yes, I wasn't advocating a link back, just one on this end so we could enjoy the sprogs' stuff as well.
good point jung. but it was just poor wording on my part.
