House of Leaves

I finished reading this debut novel by Danielewski a couple of weeks ago.

I'm of two minds about it. The first is that it is quite a technical achievement of sorts. Creating all that phoney information and footnote references in such a convincing way is admirable. The story is also compelling. On the other hand, with the benefit of a couple of weeks, I'm left a bit cold by the whole thing. It doesn't seem to have much staying power for me.

Has anyone else read it? I know Andrew Pack commented favorably on it a few months ago. Any thoughts?
