Creative Writing Courses
I am nearing the end of a marvellous 10-week creative writing course at my local adult ed centre. Though there is no academic qualification to be gained, this has been a life-enriching experience: teaching me invaluable skills which have enhanced my writing no end and introducing me to a group of like-minded friends.
I would heartily recommend such a course as a starting point for buddling scribblers.
I see that some of you are doing/have done courses with the LSJ. Your opinions of the LSJ would be appreciated as I am wondering whether to do a specialised CW course with them.
Thanks
I agree. I am a writing course junkie. See thread below.
And please tell all your fellow course members about ABCtales.com!
you're on Tony. I shall recommend to fellow writers on the LSJ course.
Is that the LondonSchool of Journalism?
John
Gail, are you doing the lsj course? Creative writing? I've just signed up to do the freelance journalism and feature writing course - might bump in to you......?
yes, I'm doing the Short Story course on-line with LSJ and John, yes that is London School of Journalism.
so Rachel, catch you in the LSJ forums, although they're not nearly as good as abctales (honest, they're not).. that's why I keep nipping back here. I think the freelance journalism course is very well set up - most of the on-line lectures they do to complement the courses are journalism centred.
Thanks gail. Should be starting - well, as soon as they get the stuff to me. Golly, zits, weddings and now the lsj. We do have a lot in common...
spooky! good luck with the course. I'm really enjoying mine. (My only criticism is sometimes a frustratingly long wait for marked assignments to come back.. is often a month).
I totally agree with you. I hadn't wrote for 7 years before last October then I joined a writing group, and started off pretty quiet. Then seeing what the others were writing, that started to get the brain flowing.
