free ipods... no really

i just got this sent through from my missus who works at T-mobile, you need to sign up to something for a free trial (I've plumped for the DVD rental service) cancel it after the trial is up and there you are.

I usually hate thios kind of thing but this looks genuine, you really do get a free ipod, (check out the BBC reports on it) it was only available in the states but the link above is the uk version, don't know hown long it will last but as long as you remember to cancel your trial (or even if not the service looks alright and it's only 12 quid a month anyway and there's no Blockbusters around here) then you can't lose.

it all looks legit' so I'm going for it and if it ends up being a scam then I'll let you all know.

if not then enjoy and remember to reffer me as a thank you.

Ely

[cue: someone in the know telling me it's a total scam and I've just managed to wipe the entire web]

I don't know if it's a scam and i also don't know if it's a completely genuine offer. I suspect that there will be something to regret somewhere down the line. A quick read through their terms and conditions reveals at least two clauses that appear to let them off the hook or allow them to mail you after a change of mind on your part. It appears they refer to the free iPod as a 'reward'. >> (g) It is not possible to cancel an account. (a) iPodsGiveAway is a free service and as such is unable to guarantee a payment of any amount or rewards of any kind, regardless of offers or referrals completed. <<

well fair do's but it still seems ok to me, those terms are to be expected to avoid being scammed themselves along the lines of "we cannot accept responsibility for third party websites" it's all standard and there are some big enough companies behind it so it feels safe to me, anywhy I'll let you know how I get on.

T-Mobile is a big company and not likely to get into a bunch of trickery with their offers, but it may be that you have to subscribe to I-tunes or something to make it work. There's always a potential for that little extra thing in the fine print. What I don't like about the I-pod is that it is proprietary and anything you download to it from I-tunes is not portable. Plus, the low bit-rate of the music you pay for makes for shitty listening. They sell you crap quality for a premium price. They'll probably end up selling these at Walmart next to the corn-dog counter.

I signed up for a free i-pod from Virgin student services last year. All I had to do was sign up to some bollocks, in a sort of pyramid fashion (subscribe six other users). Fortunately I have that many unused hotmail accounts so entered those in, forgot all about it for three months. Turns out that when I get a package it's a "new releases" DVD, and an apologetic "due to demand we cannot blah blah." That's my experience with these things.
