xmastree - Why is There Good and Bad?

Sorry, I bet the link won't work.

I assume this is an essay of sorts (see other works on quantum physics or whatever...), more like an Op/Ed.

The first few sentences don't seem linked to the rest of the body of work; it starts out as a kind of psychological labelling, then goes into a more sociological slant. I'd suggest making the intro paragraph more 'meaty', and seguing it more into the rest of the work.

And btw, I profoundly disagree that human beings can be labelled so casually as 'good' and 'bad', simply because they do something you/I/we don't like! People are shaped by all kinds of factors, from infancy (hell, even in utero) through adulthood. Deviant behaviour isn't just 'born'; it comes from somewhere, often many somewheres. We'd be better off addressing the root causes of deviant behaviour before they happen, than complaining about it afterward.

IMHO.

Hitler could be labeled as "bad." I can only please one person a day. Today isn't your day. Tommorow isn't looking good either. (signature)

Yes, he could be, and i believe he was - but there were/are a lot of people, including himself, who thought he was doing the right thing. For most every heinous act, there's someone who believes it worthwhile. I try not to label people as good or bad, because I think we are all good AND bad, depending on the viewpoint.
Oh lighten up I was just joking. Yes Hitler was bad. But I don't label people as bad. Maybe jerks, but that doesn't mean they're a bad person. I can only please on eperson a day. Today isn't your day. Tommorow isn't looking good either.

thanks for reminding me that you're a texan, mikey (i'm just kidding...) "yes hitler was bad. but i don't label people as bad." it seems like you just did. anyway, he i've had enough rehashing of the holocaust for one evening...
Nah, it was just this quote that got under my skin. "I have to make you come to the correct conclusion and that is very difficult to do with a malaphobic maladjusted being (like some are)." Why should anyone feel they *have* to make someone else come to the correct conclusion? Isnt' that what Hitler (amongst others) was trying to do? So, then, isn't that also *bad*?

We're clearly in the wrong forum for this and I don't feel like being yelled at..............
Sorry, was I yelling? Didn't mean to. Didn't know you were xmastree, either! It still stands as more of an op/ed or short essay, methinks. Do tighten up the first part to go with the second part. It'll work more fluidly, then, even though I'll *still* disagree with it...! Best, ag
Foster is Xmastree???
Dunno. Seems that way. Did I grab the wrong end of the stick?

ok, if i get yelled at, i fully expect camus and archergir (and even mikey) to be yelled at along with me... not xmastree. for all my education, i understand little of what he/.she writes. but i have enjoyed reading it. i'm simply foster. i've no alter egos on this site, as i suspect many do. and i'm not so proud as to label people right or wrong - its all about perspective. i can agree or disagree, but who's to say what's right? not me...
Ahh. So you're NOT xmastree, then. The mystery continues... I've had my share of being yelled at on this site; it bothers me not a bit. We're here to give one another feedback (AND opinions AND a bit of stick occasionally); I try to be straightforward with people - if I like it, I like it; if I disagree, I say so, but it's still just my opinion!
Eh...what have I done?
Hmm. I think I'm confused now, too....
well, god damn y'all *slaps thigh*
Watch it, now. Not all of us are from Texas...*wink*
Ba DUM! Pisssshhhh.
Have you any better suggestions on how to imitate a cymbal? It could be one of those long jazz crashes that sound like: ssssSSSSHHHHHHWWIIIIISSSSHHhhhhhh. Or something.
