Yeah, I assumed you could turn the invisibility off. I wouldn't want to be invisible all the time, no sirree. I don't get it being about egoism though. I was actually thinking that it just be nice not to be noticed by people sometimes. You might be trying to have a serious think, or trying to escape a hairy situation. I like the idea of flying, but I reckon it would probably be thrilling for about a week before you'd be bored with it. Loads of the X-Men can fly, and it's only really used as a convenience thing. And I certainly can't see it making anyone more altruistic. Now, teleportation! That's my pony. Or how about a furnace in place of my lower face and chest, like Chamber?

I initially read these questions as follows: Flying - You still retain a curiousity about the world, wishing to collect more experiences at first hand, which you could do by getting to all sorts of places quicker.... A doer. Invisible - More cynical (about oneself too), settling for experiencing things at second hand. An observer rather than a doer. I just assumed younger people would tend to go for the former and us older bods for the latter. Quite wrong then. I must say I was tempted by the invisibility thing... but on reflection the sheer exhilaration of soaring up and down, through clouds and on to far off places... wins me over... I think! so Fly, 41

And I joined the invisibles so that I could tickle people. Get up behind George W or Bliar as they whine on about Iraq and make them giggle. They wouldn't last a minute. I declare a truce on flyers so that we can use our powers together to rid the world of evil. Then we'll turn on them and wipe them out. HaHaHaHaHaHaHa...mad evil cackle tails off into the sunset... that's what putting up new websites does to you...

I can usually manage to be invisible when I want to but I can't seem to fly any more: fly, 55.

There is an aspect of flying that some have seemingly missed - the effect of farting and how it can jet propel a person across the room at great speeds if you do not have full control over your flying abilities A bit like learner drivers doing a reverse park in some way - you know - they really should move high curb stones for learner drivers - I'm sure it would help

invisible 34. I could get on planes for free and who would want to fly anyway? once you get over about 60mph you can't breathe and any faster will damage your visibility especially in bad weather so you actual flying time would be very limited and it wouldn't get you into Beyoncé's dressing room unnoticed.

it would seem that you have enough answers but you've started a war here Dylan! It's the flyers against the invisibles (better, more superheroic names need to be invented of course.. maybe the sky team V the Elsewhere's I don't know) At the moment it's me against the flying Rokkit and I'm afraid 'convenient hanggliding', although a catchy title for the next Thrills album and making a much welcome use of the word hanggliding, doesn't do it. This is war now... ..... shhhhhh! I'm just waiting for him to land and I'll swat him, he doesn't know where I am obviously so it's only a matter of time. He can't stay up there forever, as son as he falls asleep he'll either crash to earth with a splat or already be grounded in which case he'll be just like any other mortal. mwaahahahahahah!

Fly 53 The problem with being invisible, among other things, is that you're invisible all the time. I wouldn't like that. With flying, I can choose when to fly. Now if I could choose when to be invisible, then I'd have to rethink the question.

So now invisible people can create an invisibility field which covers clothes and weaponry? Whereas flying people can only move 'at the speed of an average run'? Why? Why these illogical, biased rules? ;o) I like the idea of a war between the two factions, and normal humans being stuck in the middle. I think you have to say that the two powers are enhanced by the biotechnology of either side - hence small weapons (like stiletto knives - *not* assault rifles), clothes, and the contents of a person's stomach would remain invisible (hidden perhaps by chameleon-like fibres which augment the original power) and that flyers can move at a reasonable speed and will have developed lightweight clothing, eye guards, and perhaps respirators to deal with temperature and air pressure issues associated with relatively high altitudes. After all, it would be easy to substantially enhance one's speed and control with canvas wings on a lightweight frame. Said frames could carry heat sensors. And, err, death rays. If technology has advanced that far.

I think we should go by Marvel comic book rules. Flyers can fly like Rogue or Storm - relatively fast, but not at supersonic speeds. And they can simply rise, without having to jump. It's sort of a telekinetic hold on your own body. Meanwhile, invisible people do not need to factor in their clothes. Like Nightcrawler when he teleports, Husk when she sheds her outer skin, or shapeshifters like Mystique and Courier, the clothes are all part of the power. So yeah, it's like a field. Normal people can have the advantages of being more numerous - thus they can form angry anti-mutant mobs. All seems fair and balanced to me.

As global warming and the melting of the polar ice caps melts the lowlands and renders all but the highest altitudes inaccessible, you'll begin to rue the day you chose invisibility. Try to invisible your way through the fifty-foot walls of my mountain fortress, mofo!

can I be an invisible fly? dog years or people years? age is mandatory, maturity is optional

And how are you going to build this Fortress of Solitude, Tim? You can only fly, you don't have any other parahuman abilities... Whereas us invisible folk can help ourselves to money and diamonds and pay others to build us things. And there will always be enough mug (sorry altruistic) flyers to rescue us when we turn off the invisibility for a second. I've decided superpower wise to be The Quiz, from Grant Morrison's Doom Patrol. The Quiz has 'every super-power you've never thought of', leading to the classic battle scene with his opponent shouting "erm, flight, super strength... heat rays Ow! heat rays, X-ray vision..." and ending with the Quiz just saying coldly, "You forgot the power to create man-sized escape-proof jars"

If maturity is optional its a pity not the very young but still the young of this world don't try and excel in it more often because as age is mandatory it might help and unless my eyesight is failing which I don't think so the thread that this was in didn't as was requested put their age. Not really concerned just a bit puzzled, oh of cause oh wise one ageless does come to mind...
