I just can't get over Chokelet Buttons... I'm going to use that in a story. Reminds me of the Toffee Shocks in the Faraway Tree stories that used to swell up inside your mouth.
32 and fly. But I would probably be too embarrassed to use this ability. Imagine the looks you'd get and you'd have to appear on the local news - "Local Man Has Ability To Fly" - as a kind of freak. I'd also be too scared of heights. But I guess if I had to choose it would be flying. No one wants to be invisible, do they?
Can I just clarify something, I was under the impression that invisibility could be switched off and on at will:
"the ability to be invisible" suggests to me that it's under my control otherwise forget it. All that makeup and wearing a long dark coat in summer! no way!
give me flight over that any day, in fact give me twenty quid over that.
I would like to be invisible in order to sit in on conversations and pick up a few things for the purposes of writing dialogue! Eavesdropping, etc...very useful...
However, still would prefer to fly. That lofty feeling - wow! Swooping about, taking it all in from above. Make a bit of cash on the side doing arial photography, take off when you see someone you don't like walking down the road. Had loads of flying dreams as a kid...like your teacher coming towards you with a red face, and you take off and hover over the classroom!
Jeff love the name as gave my eldest son that name 53yrs ago but now
onward and upward to your question invisible, I think this has already
been answered by quite a few on here myself included as If one thinks
hard enough it could be great fun being invisible and even hilarious such
as playing jokes on people, doing thoughtful things for people the list is
endless and they don't know from wence it came but one thing must never
be done hurting someone just for the sake of it as that would not be nice
so Invisible no problem where as flying not at all sure about that...
The fortress will be built by other flighted people. Clearly, if invisible folk just keep stealing, the economy will collapse then they'll be able to build sweet naff all. Anyone caught trying to pawn diamonds will be shot by flying vigilantes. Or will have grand pianos dropped on them. We'll set the dogs on ye, anyhow. And the fortress will have heat sensors - up in the cold mountains, anything bigger than an invisible newt will show up instantly, and be duly shot.
fail to see the importance of your question... are you marketing something here; like a potion that makes you invisble, or a pair of wings we can strap on our backs?
Let's pump petrol into the atmosphere, set the skies ablaze and crisp those canaries wings...
(see Dylan, you ask a perfectly simple question and it turns into all out war. What price altruism now?)
well I'd like to fly... always wanted to be able to fly. Used to dream about it, and then wake up and continually jump off the end of my bed trying to remember how to do it.
And you can't lift a grand piano, just because you can fly, any more than I can carry one over my head while walking... See, you flyers constantly think you've got more powers than you've actually got. And let's see how good your navigation is when you're fifty foot up in the air with no street signs...
Us invisible folk will save ample time each day on not having to shave or style our hair, so we can devote more time to preparing for war. You flyers, on the other hand, will have to be creating goggles and flying jackets to keep warm, perhaps even oxygen tanks to allow you to breathe at high altitude. I am pleased, here and now, to announce the coalition between the League of the Invisible and the British grouse-shooting contingent. Never mind waiting for the Glorious 12th, lads, crack away! Just don't let me stand anywhere near the Cornish branch...
We invisibles have it made and there's nothing you can do about it fly boy!
obviously our AGMs might be a little clumsy at first and the group photo might get sent back by Boots and there'll have to be some kind of rules regarding practical jokes on each other and taking blame for farts etc but, otherwise, we'll be ruling the roost.
In fact we could just hop on board a group of fliers when they're all pulling a grand piano into the sky..['ere dad, d'you know the piano's on my wing?..you hum it son and I'll play it!] and use you as free transport...
You'd be nothing more than sport to our guns and slaves to our rhythm, tethered in great floating coralls overnight, never knowing where we are and, therefore, always under our control!
mwaaahahahah!
AND WE WOULDN'T EVEN HAVE TO DESIGN FANCY SUPERHERO COSTUMES!!!
(actually, that's a bit of a negative, I look great in tights)
Jay if I were invisible I would love to turn up at the Pop Idol, sorry, X Factor auditions and start tickling that big bald heavy mob bouncer, just for the fun of it and to see Louis and Sharon's faces and hear her foul mouthed exclamations!
'You flyers, on the other hand, will have to be creating goggles and flying jackets to keep warm, perhaps even oxygen tanks to allow you to breathe at high altitude.'
Dude, you just reminded me of Katsuhiro Otomo's new movie, Steamboy. It looks totally sweet. And it has all that stuff.
Look, if a group of people can lift a grand piano, then a group of flying people can lift one into the air. Dem's da breaks. Doesn't take super-strength, merely common sense plus cooperation. And I'm pretty sure we could get all the Bible Belt fundies to believe we were, in fact, angels. And they all believe in the right to bear arms, so we'd have ourselves a fanatical prole militia right there.
If you wanted to sneak up on us, you'd have to go unarmed. You can't invisible your weapons, unless you could fit them up your invisible arses.
Hang on - so would there be 'norms', as well as the invisible people and the flying people. That would be cool. A big pool of unsuper people to use as foot troops.
