Yep Sol, I feel silly for being drawn into a fools game. I always feel silly after exchanging inane insults on here... but at least I lay my name to my opinions... and am man enough to retract them.
George's habit of taking side swipes at people who do not even feature on a thread, often out of context of a discussion, irritates me... but more than that is when he implies he is doing others a favour by pursuing his personal vendettas... Well to make it clear again, he does not speak for me... if it does not bother you that he speaks for you, well that is your call.
I also worry that new people coming on board here think he is vested with some sort of authority because he is not usually challenged by regulars... and are thus put off.
Ditto Flash, who seems to jump increasingly on George's bandwagon these days.
I could have said all this better than I did yesterday... hence my apologies.
I can seeyou're not going to leave it alone, Gerry.
I've been at great pains from time to time to say that ispeak for no one but myself. That Imay irritate you is your problem, no doubt you have gathered from remarks by others in the past that you also irritate people. I for one wouldn't wish, nor expect you to change, even if it was possible. Making drastic changes to ones character or personality is a futile excercise. I'm happy that you are you and I am me. I would never be so presumptuous as to think I speak for you Gerry, you don't need my input.
On the topic of newbies, there will always be meek people who watch from the sidelines and say very little, as there are also outspoken people who will speak their minds at every opportunity. Both you and I fall into the latter category. If the price of including absolutely everyone is to fetter the more active then I can only say that the forum would very quickly become turgid and boring.
Flashy, doesn't need me speaking for him either, and he doesn't jump on anyone's bandwagon, it might just be that in the instances to which you allude he happens to have the same view as myself. Am I to assume that everyone that agrees with me is a mindless robot being led by the nose?
I also put my name to my remarks, take full responsibility for them and apologise when required to.
In this instance I have nothing to apologise for.
I notice that you increasingly speak out against me. That's fine, it's just that I get the impression that it's more personal enmity than just normal disagreement.
There's no difference between religion and paganism by the way, they are the same things, and both to be avoided like the plague.
I love these "crowd" theories that some folks keep spouting.
examine, quantify, clarify, label, sort and react accordingly.
ever feel like an inventory item?
You'll find him in room 204, locker 12, shelf 4, bin 5, right next to the homophobic grommets.
The computer says we have 6 in stock, but there aren't any there. Somebody keeps using them and not logging it. Better order some more.
Anyone who has strong opinions, and argues them passionately is no doubt going to irritate someonelse... I have no problems with that per se, whether that be you ro anyonesle. It is a discussion board after all.
This is different however:
"Not bored, not by a long way, just feel the need to keep prats like you, lola, casey and the Olympic *winker*, *Get it?*, *my point* and all round despised tosser, on your collective toes. It's a shitty job but someone has to do it."
What is this all about then?
It is something you have told us a countless times, has no bearing on the discussion in question whatsoever... the people you have attacked have not even featured on this thread. You claim you have the interest in this board in not letting it become 'turgid and boring'... yet my charge to you is that the above sort of post repeated ad nauseum makes it precisely that... and worse still, encourages the people you rile against to reciprocate in the same manner.
Whether you like or dislike someone is beside the point... To follow your example, how would it benefit this forum if everyone came on board to display their personal enmities?
>> What is this all about then? <<
If you need to ask the question, the answer is beyond you.
Gerry, you are doing exactly what you accuse me of doing.
I have no wish to pursue this argument further, you are entitled to your view as am I. Your personal opinion of myself and my views is not central to my existence. You may have the last word.
Thank you.
I am going to Stonehenge for the summer solstice! The National Trust make it open to the public for the night...from 8:00 pm until 10:00 am. My brother Benjamin (who calls himself Shadow-bane Parsley for the night) is going dressed as Gandalf. I am going naked.
As a Christian I am a steward of Mother Earth and although I don't worship nature, I appreciate it as part of divine design. And any excuse for bongo drumming and free love!
Maybe we should ditch the idea of Easter matching the Passover weekend and link it to the summer solstice EVERY year, then we can just give up tripping for lent and do a Woodstock recreation every Easter Sunday. See if you can get it past the guy in white, Jude!
You must keep in mind that the definition of 'pagansim' is 'having no religion.' Not all about worshipping suns and moon and walking bare footed on the lawn at dawn laying cheese slices in the flower beds.
As a matter of fact
