Robert's Don't tell me how everything will be in the end
I read this last night, and thought it was mega. I read it just now, and for some reason my eyes won't stop watering.
yeah , it was great.
my eyes though cry only when my cd player is playing Pulp.
like right now.

aye. a thoroughly poignant conclusion. lovely stuff...
I too thought it very poignant dogstar.
I tried to think of an alternative description but failed. Anyone who has brought up young children or indeed been young children in this scenario cannot fail to be moved.
I am the only one to think that robert should put some of his earlier stuff back on the site?
And no, this is not because we shared shepherds pie one night. I first contacted robert because I liked his writing and I still do.
I would recommend him anyway despite his odd taste in music and prediliction for gold fish.
stromy
poignant is the word ...
but poem isn't ...
i first contacted robert not because i like his writing but because he lived near me ...
i like him a bit now ... particularly for his finely honed Casual Indignance ...
I've e-mailed Robert about this poem. I think it's a great piece of writing. Let's have lots more like this please, Robert.
And a plate of that Goldfish Pie.
And if that's really ivory in that previous posting, I'm Fabien Barthez.
Eddie - is Sander Westeveld still doing nothing in your reserves ? Can we do a deal ?
this is the best thing i've read on the site for ages... it's... oh what's the word? tip of my tongue... perfect - that's it.
thanks fey for pointing it out.
Andrew,
Chris Kirkland is our reserve keeper. Sander is in temporary retirement - he wants to spend more time with his money.
Might I suggest Tommy 'The Flying Pig' Lawrence? What happened to Andy 'does my bum look fat in this dress?' Goram, the cross-dressing schizophrenic? Then we could all chant 'There's only two Andy Gorams' again.
The look on Alex 'El Demento' Fergiscum's face made my weekend. BARTHEZ MUST STAY!
that is QUITE enough about football
Stormy, I agree, Robert should DEFINITELY put all his earlier work back on the site and UNDER HIS OWN NAME
Er, sorry, miss.
*kicks football up to his own end of the street*
thanks everyone
i wasn’t sure about the poem, but i’m very encouraged...and if barthez isn’t the most popular player in the premiership, i’m eddie gibbons
apols for any earlier misunderstandings re my post above ... robert is well aware that i like the piece very much ... i think it tender and honest and much looser and less controlled than the rest of the work he has on site ...
i like robert's writing very much ... my earlier posting was, i'm afraid, an example of in joking which possibly backfired a bit ...
congratulations too robert on it being poem of the day ...
(still don't think it's a poem tho ...)
cheers!!!

It's a good poem, but I much prefer this:

Nature Poems is holding the title of "my favorite poetry on the site" at the moment. I think you can see just as much of his relationship with his kids in these lines that aren't even about them. Just my opinion...
keep kicking ass robert
will
thanks will. i just re-read Nature Poems cos i wrote it months ago and couldn't remember one of the bits...it would be churlish of me not to mention that i couldn't have written it without the aid of some heavy drinking...
heavy drinking is the best way to write, it frees one from irritants like obligation to the reader, grammar, and sense of purpose!
