I was once 'employed' as an artist's model. Yes! One of those ideal situations when the artist was actually good and he actually paid me (he also paid me in books as a tip). I not only sat for him in his 'studio' but I did so at venues where he was teaching. This was not on account of anything special in the way of looks I must add, but I was simply brazen and brave enough to do it. He was a really interesting bloke with the customary artist's personality flaws. But he'd had such a fascinating life and I learned so much listening to him waffle on. He did commissions of university staff and musicians etc and he was also a sculptor, indeed had sculpted since being very young.
However, I wouldn't say this was my ideal 'job'. My ideal work in order of preference would be:
1) Artistic director/producer of operas.
2) Travel writer/writer.
3) Documentary photographer/arty-farty photographer.
4) Botanical artist/general artist.
5) Organic market gardener.
