About Intelligence by SalimMeghani

http://www.abctales.com/story/salimmeghani/about-intelligence

Since becoming an editor, I've hoped for Salim to post something longer than the usual few lines; something to really get your teeth into; something to think about. 'Computers for kids' wasn't *so* short, neither was the 'problem with mind is a mirror', but neither were as long as this.

I agree with a lot of what Salim says here, and I really like the style in which it is put together - it's highly readable (I like the brackets too!). I disagree with a couple of points - this in particular: "We tend to forget most of our unimportant experiences through the act of dreaming", however, I think the piece is well worth a cherry.

Oh, and there's a lot of overlap in 'about intelligence' with schemas, my personal hobby horse, so that sealed the deal (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schema_%28psychology%29)

this is fascinating and poses some interesting theories about intelligence. However it is just theory though Salim has cleverly taken ideas from a wide range of psychology and combined them to make what appears to be factual sense. Certainly experience is important for intelligence (practising skills), however experience alone does not determine intelligence and i would argue that Salim's definition of intelligence does not really explain what intelligence is. But then most psychologists can't explain what intelligence is, particualrly as they don't exactly no where it is in the brain or how it develops. IQ tests etc possibly measure an aspect of intelligence that western society values, however intelligence is probably a much wider concept that merely problem solving ability. Interesting stuff and it makes you think. Juliet Juliet

I noticed Salim has posted a poem recently as well http://www.abctales.com/story/salimmeghani/my-spiritual-leader I like the declamatory (is that a word?) tone. And so, you won't get any money (to give him). Because I your Lord will protect you (said God to me). I think this has potential jude "Cacoethes scribendi" http://www.judesworld.net
