Stop the War Party

For Londoners or those coming down in advance for the demo this looks like fun:

ST VALENTINE'S DAY MAKE LOVE NOT WAR PRE-MARCH PARTY
In order to meet the other local people who are demonstrating on 15>February, Somers Town Stop The War have organised a party in the Cock Tavern (on the corner where Chalton Street meets Phoenix Road). Acts booked so far include GEORGE BUSH 666, a terrific ska-rap-drum'n'bass act we saw busking Hyde Park on the last big anti-war demo and KARL MELLOR, who plays saxophone in the husky romantic tradition of Stan Getz and lives on Royal College Street. Karl is a Falklands War veteran, an experience which turned him against war forever - he put down his machine gun in favour of a saxophone and has been playing ever since. Somers Town Stop The War will be meeting outside Somers Town Coffeehouse on Chalton Street at 11.30am on 15 February - we plan to cross Euston Road together and join the other people collecting in the Gower Street/Malet Street area. Come down to our party - people with poems, songs, turns all welcome - and toast the end of the Bush/Blair era .

Hi all. Just wanted to check if anyone knows the start time for this thing? Will be going to UCL for the poetry event but might fancy 'making love not war' later on

Won't it be too wet, muddy, dark, cold and windy for any kind of protest though? Sincerely, T Jowell.

Just as it's too hot, dry, sandy and stupid for any kind of war!

as long as the love making is indoors (The Cock Tavern?) sounds a good practical idea!

And a chance for poets and story tellers to strut their stuff!

On re-reading this message it would seem not to make clear when the 'party' is. It is on the Friday night (Valentines Day). I have no start time but assume it is in the evening!

Of course, The Bloomsbury Theatre is hosting its massive Stop The War poetry event on the same night as well as the Ken Loach and Guests evening as well. Its a huge weekend to be in London. Whatever event you go to (and you should in my book) have a fantastic time. Ralph

I don't understand how this whole Bush-Blair thing got started. Blair's a liberal, isn't he? Are they golfing buddies or something? I bet Bush will get elected another term, and so will Blair, because they're so popular ... but you can stop wetting your pants at 2008 at the latest. (That is, unless Jeb starts running. And then after another 8 years, one of his druggie daughters.) Dude! This could be a conspiracy! We need a new amendment to the constitution: no consecutive blood relatives. That should hold 'em. Blair gets that position for life, doesn't he? That is, if they keep electing him.

Make love not war at the Cock Inn? Sounds like the kind of party I could enjoy.

Have you been to Prestbury, Missy? You'll find a pub with such a name there. The beer is good. I don't know about the other.

Don't know where Prestbury is Luigi but there is a Cock Inn a few miles from where I live. I used to go there sometimes, but not anymore as it didn't live up to it's name.

Which Prestbury do you refer to, Luigi? Prestbury in Cheshire or Prestbury near Cheltenham?
