Harry Crews' Feast of Snakes
Brilliant! This is as real and dirty as it gets in the rural south of America. How come I've only just discoverd this writer?

I only first read Crews about 5-6 years ago, though I think I read some short stories of his in Playboy magazine many years ago. I like 'Snakes,' but I think a steady diet of that kind of story would get old rather quickly. Still, I agree he's well worth a read.
