didn't nissan run an advertising campaign using 'metaphiles' i seem to remember micra ads with words like 'spafe' - though can't remember what it meant.

The word you want is 'portmanteau' I think,
meta: Gr, beyond
phil: Gr, to love (phile: one who loves)
(thankyou wikipedia)
a metaphile would be one who loves beyond. Which could mean a lot of things, perhaps a love of heaven, perhaps wonderlust, perhaps something far more complicated.
Woulda though a metaphile was someone who loved movies that refer to other movies and the like.
How the heck would you combine a metaphor and a simile? Seeing as they're basically the same thing, but with one making the comparison more strongly.
"His face was more than like the moon, but wasn't actually the moon."
Trust me to post something when I'm a bit 'lit'. His alcoholics face was like an alcoholics'. 'Lit' by the way was my Irish girlfriends description of someone who'd had about 3 pints. 'Oh he was lit' she'd say when describing someone who was on the way to catching fire. 'Batter' was another one - as in - I was on the batter last night. As in battering oneself. And not with flour and water. God this is a great site, isn't it!
I met a Phil once.
He came from Potters Bar.
He sold a lot of ecstacy
and drove a big 'Yank' car.
People called him Phil 'E'
but his mates would call him 'Del'
I asked one why - he answered
'Do I have to spell it out fe ya?'
