So if it's honesty and the itegrity of identity cards we're after then I'd better check in too, to this one. I have enjoyed this site and all it's shinnaygins for some time now and have contributed in writing and in the forums under many guises. I have even played with the red & black email boxes to enter coded messages, to which some contributors have responded. All very innocuous, pale and trainspotty. I don't think I've offended anyone's writing in particular, if fact I have even contributed by email to one writer's improvement of a piece, a task I much enjoyed. I do one star from time to time though, by mistake on occasion; after a few drinks it's hard to keep the bitch of a mouse under control. Although I wonder, with recent implosions in the threads it may be a good time to come clean and refrain from playful logins and absent emails. A techie cleansing of sorts, you could say. I have 3 current logins: "daveangel", "pseudocarp" (formerly Cherrypickersanonymous) & "thom_austin" all used for different writing personas. (trischizophrenic or what?). I have spoken to Em about this illness and am undergoing login therapy as a write. At time's however this alternative login syndrome(ALAS) can add to the quickdraw fun of the spaghetti western thrill of it all. Over at 'Ta Chucks', a thread I set up as 'an experiment' in interactive publication, the numerous logins were part of the scene and I still think they add to the voice and setting of the thing. I am definately not 'abcdog'sdo' though although However in some threads, like the ones we have recently unwrote and the ones that cause undue harm, the need to be yourself and honest with it is far greater, if only to protect the sanctity of our site and selves. The debate to protect words and writer's from unecessary abuse must go on and some bitches will out, and go out and out to destabalise this and in their doing might just improve the NEW SITE ORDER of things. This may read as a cold confessional piece, but I cannot bring myself to be as warm and informal as some long-standing talebearers here as I know not who they are.

I have just tried to find his writing on the site. Is it still available to read? So too those deleted threads I have missed out on. are they still out there somewhere in virtual cabinets marked X...

It's not so much the nasty hiders stopping because of a thread like this - it's more that if the rest of us follow the advice in this thread of ignoring the offenders, they may get bored and go away. We are also taking this very seriously in the office and are looking at a number of ways to stamp it out. Cheers Em

I agree AJ, Someone really slagged me off a month or so back, but did so anonymously. I refused to rise to the bait. I'll state my case and even be willing to have my opinion changed, but will no longer debate with someone who hasn't even the guts to put their name to their insults. In my case, certain fellow ABCtalers rose to defend me, and I thanked them privately. And I've recently defended someone who was being insulted by a pseudonym, and been thanked by private e-mail. To insult without naming yourself is utter cowardice.

I've been taking part in discussions since February of this year and this is the first time I've realised that if you name is in black it means you've not put your e mail address and if its in red it means you have! Am I stupid or what! I have never put my e mail in - i found you could post without it so i didn't bother!! After all as Mississippi says o person's e mail address is up on the author's collection pages anyway if someone really wanted to e mail someone else - not that anyone e mails me anyway.

stromy? I was not on the attack aj if you are referring to remarks I made on the other thread about this one. it was not personal I would have said the same if TC himself had started this thread off. I just felt that if you delete some threads you should delete ALL to do with that subject. secondly, although what you say is common sense you cannot force people to apply it. It is human nature to react the way some have, regrettably in my opinion, to certain issues raised from time to time on the site. and if anyone here is still naive after all this forum has been through to imagine that the nasty hiders behind names will stop because of a thread such as this they are misguided. one thing about my so called attacks aj is that they are usually well thought out; they are not personally insulting; they do not threaten; they usually contain a high element of taking the piss and humour (hopefully) and I only do it when people come out with utter crap that irks me.
