Rita G Harrison and ABCTales

Hi Rita
Like a whirlwind from the West you have descended on ABC Tales, and how refreshing a wind too. However as a friend I should tell you that there are limitations to the site, quite frustrating limitations Rita, I am on two other sites UKAuthors and Creative Poems a (US poetry site). I worked out the average read rates and comment rates for all three sites and for my work the following rates apply. ABCTales average read rate per piece is 9, average comment rate per piece is 0.09 through the Forums (this may be a bit low because I did get a mention yesterday). For Creative Poems the read rate was 9.5 reads per piece but 2.7 comments per piece. For UKAuthors it was a staggering 13.7 reads per piece and 1.6 comments per piece.

If my figures are anything to go by you have to be a prolific author to ever receive a mention in the ABC Writings Forum. But to be fair I think the other sites make it much easier technically to comment on others work. I have nothing to back this idea up but I always feel that there is more posting than reading going on in the ABC site and to be fair the powers that be at ABC can’t do much about that!

So don’t blow yourself out Rita by down loading all your work at once, like to see you as a prevailing wind now you are here!

Like Autum Leaves poem very much by the way, but I would!

Hello all; I am back!! I had to make an emergency move to my mother's health. I will be back shortly as soon as I can possibly get settled as this has been a very disorganized move. My best to you all, Rita

Bob, I agree. Sorry about all the postings. Yes, it is much easier to comment at other sites, I do agree. Hopefully we will be able to comment properly in the future? Until that time I am trying to comment directly by e-mail or via forum to the poet whose work I am reading that day. I don't understand what happened yesterday, because I did not post anything. I went in and moved the poems i had already submitted into their proper categories. Apparently anytime you open one of your poems it pops back up to the front page. I do apologize for that never thinking about them showing back up there after editing. They don't on other sites. Is it always like that? God, I hope not because I work and rework my stuff quite often. I guess once has to be the charm? I do apologize for hogging all the pages. MM explained to me what I did wrong and I promise I won't post more than 2 a day ever again. And that would certainly be a rare occasion. Now I do understand why that person was so upset with me. He and Liana are trying to let me know everything I need to know and I would appreciate anything you think would be advisory to me. Please accept my apology. I did send Liana an apology explaining to her I did not know. I know CP only allows 3 per day per category, but PP let you post it all in your own showcase and that was what this looked like to me since each poet names their own site. I do know the rules now and do apologize. It is so nice to see you here. I enjoyed you so on CP. My best and my apology, Rita

I don't think you need to apologise Rita, we all have to learn the ropes. And on the positive side there are few rules at ABC. But Yes! Your poems will appear again if you edit them. I find that a bit odd too Rita, especially as the volume of new work is increasing and the exposure time in the first 100 is much less than a day now. It means that a new piece of work posted in the morning can be knocked out of the first 100 by late afternoon and if that is by re-edited work that already has 10 or 20 reads on it, it is a little unfair. I won't say that some poets do it deliberately, Oh go no yes I will! Some poets do it deliberately, I try not to. If you read one new poet a day and comment, you will be considered an ABC Star Rita! As I said refreshing to see you here and don't change your style!

Yes, it is a bit of a drag that pieces get resubmitted when you edit them. ABC got rid of that before, but now the curse is back. It must be so much work for the editors too. Let me put in a word for abc. I am happy that we don't have commenting facilities. It means we don't feel obliged to keep commentating all the time, which could get bland and become hard work and a responsibility. And less commenting leaves more time for browsing and reading. If we find a piece we like, we can either write to the writer, or bring it to people's attention on this board. I'd rather have one e-mail about my work than twenty bland "I enjoyed it"/"I didn't like this one so much" remarks, or whatever. You're doing fine, by the way. I'm going to read through your pieces, but one by one over a period of time. d.beswetherick.

I agree with Creek, Rita. You've cheered the place up no end :-) Have a great Thanksgiving.
