You know Liana the teenager and her poetry had - has no affect upon me
It was Flash's condescending attitude that affected me - I did not need a lecture by pm - telling me that he disagreed with everything I had said on this thread - I think there are only two things he could disagree with; 1) my thinking the poem is crap, 2) that I felt he had belittled me by his treating me as if I were thick and stupid in such a condescending way
1) I have the right to say if something is crap or not - normally I don't say anything and hold back till I read more of what the writer has to offer - and then I am selective over what I say and how I say - at least I try to be but even I have off days
2) All I did was ask a simple question having seen the poem insitu along with all of the comments - I did not need to be told what had happened - I would not have asked the question in the first place if I had not known
The fact that flash felt threaten by my inquiry only adds to my question his attitude and behaviour towards me
He hasn't even got the decency apologise basically because he can't see and won't see how his own attitude affected me - I take it I am allowed to have feelings as well as a degree of intelligence
*ignores Flash*
Cass - Cassita who has two accounts on uka - it will make no difference to me if she posts more work - that is her business - she just has to remember that the best of us write crap as well
>> Missi shame you didn't have the balls to go to the UKA do <<
On the contrary Sadbelle, 'I' have the balls to do any damned thing that takes my fancy. But why would I want to spend time and money to be in the same room as those that have no liking for me? It would have been a waste of time for me and only aggravated the other attendees. If you or any others wish to meet me, an ABC do is the best occasion.
.. and whats more, if people put their energies like this, into a cause like the caged children (see thread) perhaps something would get f***ing well done about it. There's little interest on the thread missi started... I suppose a poxy row on a poxy site about who said what and who didnt is more important.
no Liana it isn't as important as trying to stop the caging of children - sobering thought
I stand told off
*slaps own hands *
I apologise to you Flash
but what about those with learning difficulties who are abused in this country Liana?
did you know that only 1% of all reported sexual crimes against people with learning difficulties actually makes it to court but there again they are not children - they are just adults who will never grow up and who are unable to communicate what has happened to them in a way which would mean that they would be protected ... we who are responsible for their care have decided that the secret should remain a secret
very sobering isn't it
OMG!
*looks over shoulder to see if stephanie is coming this way*
This should get the thread back on track,

Fiction: Voices from the web.- by Rah (107 words)
a little something to make me even more unpopular then before. :)
(just kidding people).
Do you wanna be in my gang?
10 out of 10,
Hot story selection;
Guaranteed - my friend.
I wrote a list,
As a story
And if you look close you’ll see;
My hit rates now massive
- Clever old me.
And your name if you look close,
I didn’t put in,
Because I didn’t write anyone’s,
No friends to win.
I’ll be your fave author
And you can be mine,
Gang warfare with letters
- Conducted online.
I’ll nominate your piece;
You nominate mine,
UKA-authors...
- UKA-swine!
<<
its a shame that but still neither will I be going - and I certainly wont be missed
As for my going to Devon that has now been postponed for three weeks - it looks as if I will be spending most of my time in another part of Wales instead which is both annoying and frustrating
You kidding?
I don't play there anymore, I was sent the link by my spy.
All those years I went to the Royal Albert hall and I never realised it wrote potry.
The comments below this were equally entertaining (it's a UKA picked favourite poem of the week)

or maybe not seething; I thought that meant angry, but it seems to mean crowded.

seethe - boil, bubble up or be violently agitated by.
I only select a hot story because I have a problem with my memory - its one way of recalling pieces of work that I've really enjoyed - I use to write them down in a book but I lost it - as to hot author's - they are people whose work I know I have enjoyed reading but I do try to read and be as varied as I can - hence my making this comment - I read a lot and comment little on account that most have said what I want to - I'd only end up repeating what they have besides I don't feel qualified enough to do so anyway
But I don't blame you for seething - it is better to seethe and be honest about it

Seethe - Seething, I was almost right! :) Hey, I have hot storys i've selected, and no doubt will have a fave author one day, nothing wrong with that. What get's my goat most is the people who have two accounts, and give positive feedback to their own work. lol (only jelous because I wish I'd thought of it first) :) As for your not being qualified to comment - I often feel the same (especially regarding poetry) I mean stanza's?? what the hell are they? ;) But you are qualified, and if they dont like what you write, well... fuck it; you can always write a nasty demeaning poem about them the next day :)

oo-er! someone annoyed you, I think. At the end of the day, its best just to get on with what you do, and not be bothered by any pettiness you may see. I ahve to say though, I haven't really noticed much of that here, generally people are fair and generous.

lol, your right off course Skeeter, this was written in jest, and posted merely to see what kind of reaction it gleamed. Although I have noticed a few pieces that have been nominated for the anthology that have received no comments, votes, etc. etc, which I find a little strange. Either way, I hold no grudges, just felt like stirring up the water a little, thanks for reading.

Rah, your poem is in extremely bad taste, offensive and insulting to the talented and hard-working people on this site. You should be ashamed of yourself.
P.S. Can I post it on ABCtales, it's great!!

To be honest with you Neil, I'd expected some kind of (E)mail-bomb to have seriously singed my eye-brows by now. The feedback however has been, not positive as such, but extremely interesting, I'm glad I posted it. :) Thanks for your comment Neil, made me chuckle with inner shame.
P.S. you can stick (i mean 'post') it wherever u like it :)

I take it this piece is in jest?
I have picked loads of stories and authors cos I liked the piece and what they they have done...I haven't been picked yet as a 'HOT AUTHOR' probably never will...Maybe its because I sit about picking my nose while just in my underpants (I'm doing it right now)...don't care.
I do get nice comments (smiles broadly)
Nice piece.

Well Eddie, the thought of you sat about picking your nose in just your undies really sets my pulse racing. lol :) yeah, this was written in jest, although if i'm honest - it's taken on a slightly darker side since, thanks for reading, Rah.
Miss,
Rule book? hahahaha....
The only rule I have is "there are no rules"...
I'm not interested in another Brit site. This one's all I care to tackle at the moment. Working more on my US publishing goals at the moment.
Quite a lot of people including me post on both sites, and it's not just for UK authors. You get a lot more comments on your work, though they're often a bit bland. On the other hand, the discussion groups are, let's say, more controlled than this site! I don't think there's generally any animosity, though.
Nothing better than a well controlled discussion. I'd rather watch paint dry.
Nope, I like ABC... Tony's a cool dude, reminds me of an old hotel owner trying to keep the plumbing fixed...most everyone else here is pretty groovy (you too Liana, I mean that.) I wish more people got involved with discussions here, it always seems to be the same people. There are some seriously talented people here and the writing has a different take on life from what I experience on this side of the big blue...
Nope, UKA can live without the likes of me, that is for certain.
Phew, Denver...couldn't be losing you!!!
I personally have only ever looked at that site about four times...and I always come back here...call me whatever you will...
Pi the comments in the main were directed at people who had already commented, deriding us for being positive and supporting a poem he thought was complete rubbish. He also provided links to Cassita's web page, telling us to open her eyes.
He also said that his two year old daughter could write better stuff, so i said great lets see some of it.
She's posted work and comments that are to me a serious intention to contribute, so i'll treat her with the respect she deserves. I had a quick look at her site and to me it's(webcam) just a silly teenage fad that she'll grow bored with sooner or later. Well i hope so anyway.
Flash I know I read all the comments made before Cassita removed the poem
I've also read all of the comments made by Cassita - as Cass on other people's work - and the link to her web site was already there on her home page even before she changed to another user name and its still there
NOW - all I asked is what would have been your reaction if it had been me who had made that comment?
I was not having a go a Cassita I was asking a question which I'll repeat just in case - what would your reaction have been if it had been me who had posted those comments?
so stop being patronising and condesending towards me please it don't suit you - if Cassita is serious then she will post again - she has to get use to the idea that she will get good as well as bad comments - we all do - and if she wants to be taken seriously then she'll have to learn how to stand own her ground
Ah rad, when it's the same people you can have fun predicting the outcomes of the various posts. Will people you respect a lot have the same opinion as you? Will they not? Oh the endless opportunity for predictive postings.. if you see what I mean.
p.s. what happened to the monkey pic? I thought you were a monkey at a typewriter and then this guy with shades turned up...
'Flash I know I read all the comments made before Cassita removed the poem.'
I didn't know that Pioden thats why i posted a general overview of what he said for your info.
'NOW - all I asked is what would have been your reaction if it had been me who had made that comment?'
If you had made those exact comments that our fellow member made........i would have fell off my chair in amazement, because the comments he made were rude, judgemental and destructive. I can't imagine you would ever post comments like that anybodies work and particular someone new and so young.
'I was not having a go a Cassita I was asking a question which I'll repeat just in case - what would your reaction have been if it had been me who had posted those comments? '
I didn't say you were having a go at Cass?
'so stop being patronising and condesending towards me please it don't suit you' -
I honestly don't think i have been. I merely posted information i didn't think you weren't aware of.
'if Cassita is serious then she will post again - she has to get use to the idea that she will get good as well as bad comments - we all do - and if she wants to be taken seriously then she'll have to learn how to stand own her ground.'
The comments she received from this particular member weren't good, bad or constructive...they were just hostile and inflammatory not just to her but to other members who'd posted comments.
I spanked that monkey to death. Wanted something a little more recent. That's my sunburn pic.
I'm was going to make a picture of me sitting in a pink convertable, sipping a milk shake on Route 66. Was gonna put on a cowboy hat and have gold chains wrapped around my neck and have my boots propped up on the door with several bikini clad women lounging about, but I couldn't find my boots.
Flashy, just want to ask you a question...were you at the London bash by any chance...and remained in cognito...only there was someone matching your description who kept themselves to themselves...????
*******Correction******
'As long as you're going to be funny.'
Effing keyboard!!!
How could someone dressed like me remain incognito?
But yes Emma if i ever did attend it would probably be in the way you've just described.
