Another hags comp!
I thought some of you might be very interested in this one:
To celebrate the season of Christmas and good will, hagsharlotsheroines.com are holding another writing competition.
Not only do they have a selection of goodies to give away, but the
winning entry will be published on their site as a Special Christmas Story. Prizes include some inspiring books and creative writing products that will keep you entertained long after the ill-fitting Christmas jumpers and novelty slippers from Auntie Vi have been consigned to the local charity shop.
If you would like to enter, send them a tale or poem of no more than
2,000 words about a hag, harlot or heroine – real, mythical or legendary – associated with Christmas, the Winter Solstice, or this time of year in general. Submit your entries by completing the Post Your Story Form in the “Community” section of their site, marking them clearly “Christmas
Competition”. Entries must be received by 10th December.
Please note that the woman or women you choose to write about MUST fit the concept of hagsharlotsheroines.com. In other words, they cannot be entirely fictional creations of your own, but must be based on someone from history, myth or legend. A fantastic example of what we are looking for is “A Little Death” by Anne Brooke in their Members’ tales section. This beautifully written and powerful tale is based on the life of Abigail, wife of Nabal and King David.
Have fun!
