Everyman by Philip Roth

I came to Roth a bit late and still haven't read a huge amount of his work. 'Portnoy's Complaint' is, though, for my money, one of the funniest novels ever written.

'Everyman' is his latest. Quite short at around 40,000 words - but powerful, nonetheless. A candid tale of the life and death of an imperfect man - and a poignant contemplation on the fate that awaits us all. I loved it.
