New Tolkien Book

This goes down as quote of the week for me...

"It's a beautiful tale in itself but it may not strike a chord because people feel there aren't enough hobbits in it - because there aren't any."

I'll still be buying it as I liked the Silmarillion much better than LOTR/The Hobbit. It's much darker; one doesn't imagine the sun ever came out during the First Age! I imagine it *won't* strike a chord with anyone except hardcore Tolkien fans. But that's okay by me! Maybe not the publishers, however...
I loved the Silmarillion. The creation myth (ainundale) at the beginning is just superb. jude "Cacoethes scribendi" http://www.judesworld.net

Yes, I agree. Very powerful work. I love that the world was created from music; really beautiful, and a bit New Agey!
