Railway Children

I received the following email today. This is the result of our last ABCtales evening in London:

On behalf of Railway Children I would like to thank you for your generous
donation of £105.20 which was passed on to me by David Maidment this
morning, please thank all those involved in this contribution. Your
donation will enable Railway Children to continue to help many vulnerable
children.

I did not have a postal address for yourselves so thought this was the
best way to thank you, if you would like information from Railway Children
in the future if you could provide us with a postal or an e-mail address
then that would be great.

Runaway and abandoned children are often overlooked in society, but it is
our belief that no child should have to live alone and at risk on the
streets.
The Facts:
• In the UK, 1 in 8 children are at risk of running away. 100,000
children run away every year that is 1 every 5 minutes.
• In the UK 14,000 runaway children come to serious harm every year
• In India, there are more than 12 million children living on the street
– some as young as 5 years old
• Last year Railway Children helped over 25,000 children in India, East
Africa and the UK.
