rating the poems and stories

Nothing could be better than an apreciative comment about your work. It's what keeps me uploading stuff. Cherry picking is a good idea as well but, rating the story gives you an insight about the piece's popularity. I want loads of people to read my stuff. If they take the time to read it that's brilliant but rating can give you an overall idea of whether what you write is worth it. PS. Anybody like scripts? NGW2.

I'll read your work and I'll rate it. Allow me though to tell you my opinion on the rating matter.. At the begining I expected anxiously to see what impact does my writing has on abcreaders and writers... I had some good rates, one that I consider bad and some very good ones... I now understand that it's not the rating that counts it's the reading... Furthermore if we expect acknowledgement from others it's a waste of time... what if my poems and stories were great and everybody hated them... ? (all the cherry picking in the world wouldn't comfort me) and what if there was a)major cherry picking and b)great rates and my work was crap... would that help me? That's why I simply chose that my stories aren't to be rated not because I find critisism not trustworthy but it's because I like the "silent" appreciation of my writing (that's how I see editors' point of you) that won't harm me or my work in any way. take care and good writing

I totally understand this point of view, but I would still appreciate a rating -- I only want to know if you like the poems. I do appreciate anyone who just reads them, afterall, I wrote them to be read, not criticized. I hope to be someone's favorite author someday. Thanks for the reply. Love and Peace to you!

RedKnight. You may in time get emails about your work which is far more gratifying than the rating system. The stars are nice, but don't really give a great deal of feedback..... Keep writing your stuff and enjoying the site.... Have Faith !!!

i agree with linzi - it's much more satisfying to get an e-mail about your work than anything else but, basically, the way i see it is that if someone's reading your work then you should be happy. There's always going to be discrepancies where opinions are involved and, even if it's rated badly, at least you have provoked some sort of response. Isn't that what we are looking for as writers?

Yeah I experimented in bad taste the other day and posted up a piece of writing that was a bit twisted. Just to see how people would react to it. I got a rating of one star by two people. But I deliberately wrote that awful piece of writing to get that kind of reaction. Twisted I know, in fact I liked the idea of writing twisted stuff so much that I created a whole abcset for it. I know your all gonna hate me for doing that. Especially if one of them comes up on your random generator thingy. I may delete the set in a few days though...hehe. Maybe I take my experiments too far sometimes.

don't delete your set, Funky. experimentation is always a good thing, i think, and if we can't experiment here, where can we experiment? i haven't read your piece, but will try to do so now.

Skydolphin stop copying and pasting me please! If had enuf of being copied and pasted for oneday thankyou very much sis. Can you imagine what its like to be cloned again and again, terrifying thats what it is.

no not tense towards me, I wasn't implying that * God its so hard to communicate on these things* I mean just checking to see if you were ok. Cause i was worried about you thats all. Don't worry about it. it's talking on computers it's a hard thing to do, cause you can't see the body language so your relying solely on words to communicate and sometimes I can get things a bit mixed up. I've never been much good at communicating via e-mail and in forums. People always misinterpret me, and I do the same with them. Its just a difficult way to communicate thats all, don't worry about it man, it's quite funny really, how communication can become so confusing on the internet. Just shows how much we need bodylanguage to communicate fully. God bless skydolphin, jus me being daft again.

I should have said that in the thread but I've only just discovered that if you hit 'reply to this message' at the bottom - then everything the previous person wrote comes up underneath your message as well. sorry sis I was only joking about the clone thing. Didn't mean to get our wires crossed. Was just trieing to be funny. But wasn't being funny - sorry man. I may stop posting things in the forums for a bit, I seem to be encountering a lot of mis-communication lately. It's my fault I just can't communicate very well like this. Am better at communicating when the person is sat in front of me and I can see them. Might just focus on reading and writing pieces on abctales for a bit have a breather from the forums.
