Bet Lynch...

Did anyone see that cover of the Face a year or two back, a ten year old kid saying "So daddy, who were the Stone Roses?" - that was a real kick in the teeth, but true. (Equally, they could have had Stormy on the cover saying much the same...) Surely the audience ITV need to be attracting will have no idea who Bet Lynch/Gilroy was. She was about ten landladies ago. What they need is to get Cat Deeley in behind the bar, she was tops in her Hollyoaks cameo last week as "Cute Girl on barge in cute hat". Bad as Corrie is from time to time, at least it never takes four or five cast members off to "Spain" or "Ireland" or "Sarf-End" for a truly embarrassing week of episodes. This weeks Enders is like a really rough episode of Minder, complete with Rula Lenska. (How did she make a living ? She was in three or four episodes of Minder, and a few Blankety Blanks. She's never done anything major, and looks to me as if she might have quite expensive tastes. Equally, how did the guy out of Big Audio Dynamite still have a million quid left for his family to haggle over in his will? Did I miss something ? Were there four or five hit singles I never heard about ? )

corrie has had a spain week... and lets not forget the blackpool drama with whatsername, face full of make up.. rita... and doesnt rula look raddled? those bingo wings under each arm ..ewww

Don't remember corrie in Spain (though I accept your word for it), and you can't compare Blackpool (almost a noir thriller, with faded cabaret star fleeing the man she used to love and seeing him die beneath a tram) to the nonsense Enders is currently inflicting on the country. Robert - she doesn't look elfin. She does, as Liana says, have the bingo wings.

Back to the question in hand. Bet was a far better landlady than the anaemic Eve. Who in their right mind could marry Fred? At least Bet rang true as a landlady - but I dare say she won't get to take over the Rovers again - she'll probably shag Ken Barlow (and/or Deirdre) and run off to Spain.
