tuesday tv addiction

Oh dear, got totally drawn into trashy tv this evening (tuesday).

First: Would Like to Meet (instead of The Simpsons, a fair swop). A poor benighted man tries to totter into the world of Dating, with some (agonisingly slow) success.

Second: Eastenders. A poor benighted man tries to tell the woman he loves that she is the woman he loves. Oh dear. And some uncalled-for snogging.

Third: Holby City. Cheese-on-wheels! That Owen bloke gives a plank of wood a bad name with his ulta-wooden performance. Lots of darting glances, rivals in affection, death, murder, etc. etc.

Fourth: Wife Swap. I LOVE WIFE SWAP!!! I'd never DO it though. Those poor.... (have already over-used "benighted") poor, poor kids. What they had to endure for the entertainment of a minority of Channel 4 viewers scandalised pleasure....

Fifth: Men In Tights. Brilliant! Had a tear in me eye at the end of that. Moving... unexpected... wow.

But I mean.. that's a whole evening spent ogling the telly. And what have I gained from such idle leisure, really? Does anyone else feel bad about tv indulgence? Any tips on how I might avoid watching these things I like watching so I can get on with reading BOOKS?
