Eden Project
Being at this moment in time on hols in Cornwall, I have just come back from the Eden Project. It was well worth a day out. It was full of old people. At 31 years I was the youngest there by a several decades. The old folks seemed to enjoy it. One couple boasted of how they had been married for over 56 years.
The inside was interesting - I especially liked the chilled out atmosphere of the Mediterranean biome (dome thing) and enjoyed an organically grown chocolate muffin for lunch along with an over-priced beverage.
If anything I found the other (triopical) biome quite depressing. It showed just how much man (in the generic sense) has ruined the earth in greedy pursuit of profit from crops such as the rubber plant and cocoa and so forth and how this has utterly ruined the environment for the vast majority of the planet's population. It was also weird how I didn't see any animals, insects or birds in there (apart from one navigationally-challenged robin who must have snuck in through the fire exit).
The best bit was gazing at the outside of the structures. Has anyone here been? It reminded me of something from a John Wyndham sci-fi novel. Surely these were the structures the aliens were meant to build when they landed? Fantastic!
