Next Derby Event is on Saturday 18th September: BRING A FRIEND! ;o)

Yes, I have sought humble permission to advertise the fantastic fact that the next ABC Tales event in Derby will be on Saturday 18th September 2004.

The theme for this one is: BRING A FRIEND!!

And bring some poetry to read. It's on a Saturday so lots of opportunity for getting there and getting back. There may even be some possibilities of accommodation - watch this space for more info.

It's at The Brunswick Inn, Railway Terrace, Derby. Same time same place. There will be a PA so we can hear the poems (*note to self: there WILL be a PA*) and I hope loads more people will come and enjoy themselves.

Starts at 7.30 pm - 10.30 pm -ish.

Admission: the knock-down price of 3 quid (2 quid concessions - students and so forth). Even better value than EVER BEFORE!!

Tell everyone you know and especially to the Midlands gang - let's spread the word about this one. It should be a really good night (just like the last one was).

You can email me for info if you like: matt@englishbanana.com

Can't wait! Can already taste the excellent beer. Pi - more sand please. And George and everyone else - come a bit earlier and I'll show you the sites of Derby - including Derby Industrial Museum and the Derby Ram.

Now I can't say fairer than that, can I?

thanks, but Fish is in London and might give me a lift so Heathrow might be best for that, that's what I meant. how far is London to Derby drive-wise? I'll surf and see if anything flies out of Aberdeen to Sherwood Forest area too though. Big crossbow or little John giving piggy backs. Don't think BA fly to there. Or probably could get to Jamaica for what it would cost if they did. complicated isn't it.

*looks out of window for sight of big ben* nope ... still just the distant twinkle of the connie club ... mind you ... i expect it would have put £350k on the value of the fish house ... hmmm ... luton is betwixt here and london haze (south) ... and derby is a bit the other way (north) ... it seems that easyjet fly from abrrrrrdeen to luton v cheaply ... when we went we flew from brum (bert doesnt think there IS another airport) and it was more xpenny ... so you could fly to luton ... get a train here and then we could take you to derby ... heathrow ... not good ... is a long long way the other way ... (more south)... and yes do come fergal! ... we could have an entire takeover of the midland hotel ...

Don't call it *Nottingham* East Midlands Airport in Derby, Purple, whatever you do, unless you want to be thrown in the stocks or face a ducking stool! It's a bit of a sore point.

midland hotel is 50 quid for a double room for the night ... is jolly nice ... we had twin beds last time (when stormy and bert shocked the poor chamber maid with their homoerotic innuendo) but will be deluxe queen bedding it this time ... i have a feeling this is going to be a bloody good night out ...
Emma

Oh, therefore, perhaps I should 'book' husband to babysit...I am allowed one night per month away...so generous eh?

Ooer, still trying to negotiate an awayday for this. Really sad I missed the last one so will try to be there - with a bunch of my old Nottingham/Leicester mates. I just hope that one of them will drive us home - on the other hand it sounds like more fun to stop in the Midlands Hotel and wander the corridors listening to strange innuendo.

Now checked my diary - I can't come - boo ho hoo. It's a very old friend's 50th - she was my first 'proper' girlfriend when I was 15 and is now my other half's best mate so can't miss it. Apologies once more from me. I will get to Derby - I swear I will.

I won't be responsible for any innuendo that you hear as you wander the corridors (oh, silly me you aren't coming now..so this is only an 'if' situation) - oh, no. If my er, well...haven't cleared it with her to call her my 'girlfriend' but will take the risk...well, if she comes it aint gonna be innuendo...we like to get straight to the point. Sorry you aren't coming Tony...will have one for you.

Bloody hell Jeff, you had 31 September days from which to choose and you select my birthday. I'll see if I can 'lose' Oaf and Outfit for the night and treat Mrs. S. to an homoerotic overnighter.

yeah, 14 hours on a train in one weekend, not likely. Not even to meet the lovely Drew - and your kind self of course. A snip at £65 quid though. I'll check out the flights and see what they're like. noisy, cold, rubbish sandwiches and horrible stewed tea probably. Plus quite high. Air hostesses always hate me, they only give me one wee bottle of bacardi. I hate that. Judy Finnegan gets heaps of voddy. Will search for flights and hope the car doesn't need a hugely expensive service in August, otherwise it's back to pissing people off online for another few months...hehehe oo er bit of politics

Sorry Storms. Hey, it's my birthday on the tenth of Sept. Wow what a lot of Virgoans aren't we? Have you all got really tidy houses/bedrooms/pockets too? I'd like to point out in fairness that other hotels are available. Though the Midland is exceptionally nice. Bit palatial really. If they're reading this please send the gift vouchers to: 39, The Crescent, Tittering, W.Derbyshire.
