Party Thread!

Hello, come in. Let me take your coat. This is my virtual Birthday Party thread and you are all welcome (no fighting allowed *Looks meaningfully in certain directions!*) Come inside, have a drink and help yourself to the virtual nibbles...the digital vol-au-vents come with especial recommendation. The big day when I reach the 28 year mark is actually tomorrow (26th) but I am offline most of the day!

Well I can't believe a decade has passed since my eighteenth when I was thrown in the boot of a car on my way back from the boozer and taken to my suprise party. Around that time we went to the Reading Festival and Greenday headlined the Saturday. Then a few weeks after our return I moved to student halls in SW1 (to study zoology) and spent the year making lots of friends, studying (sporadically) and yes, getting wasted.

Well , I am going to the Reading Festival tommorrow and Greenday are headlining the Sunday! Then I move into halls in SE1 (to study Theology) and hopefully will spend the year with lots of friends, studying (hard) but not getting wasted! Some things change, some things never do!

In the ten year interim, I found God, graduated (just), fell in love, bought a house, embarked on a fantastic career, visited seven of the united states and about a dozen other countries (at 18 I had never been on a plane!). I've learned how to cook and put on a stone and a half in weight. That's about it really. If I manage to produce further decades like that then by the time I am 48 I will weigh thirteen and a half stone (argh!)!!

Anyway, here, have another drink, and please try the cheese straws...I made them myself, oh and do mingle with the other guests

sadly I don't share a birthday with anyone famous except Albert Sabin who invented the polio vaccine and Macauly Culkin (no comment) The most important historic events (in my opinion that occured on August 26th were 1883, Krakatau Volcano erupts, subsequent devastation and re-population provided text-book biological model for re-establishing a habitat. 1920, the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, guaranteeing American women the right to vote, was declared in effect. 1978, Cardinal Albino Luciani of Venice was elected the 264th Pope of the Roman Catholic Church following the death of Paul VI. The new pontiff took the name John Paul I. (this is the one rumoured unjusty to have been bumped off)

can we post Jude to some nice warm beach some where - that way we could visit her - not that I like sunbathing - I don't maybe we could post to somewhere wheres there loads of libraries, museums and building of architectural interest ... and cafes that sell REAL coffee in huge cups - with cream and chocolate topping - and marshwellows or maybe where theres loads of fun fares - with scary rides and candyfloss - I won a gold fish at the one I went to last week ...

Is fate a bitch? Or just people that choose to argue with it? Interesting thing about fate... according to the dictionary definition, fate is ambiguously defined (in part) as a 'final result'. But equally, it is defined as an 'unfavourable destiny' / doom. Whilst you may be entitled to a 'better fate', at nowhere is it explicitly stated that there is such a thing as a positive fate. So does that mean - especially for those that believe we are following a predestined course - that we are all meant to be utterly miserable, and that any happiness that may briefly touch our lives is merely a misplaced blip?

Happy Birthday Jude like you I have never understood people wanting to hide their age after all none of us can odds the day we were born and from that day comes our age and that is something we can never change, must admit my thirty's were my best years seems a long time ago now. Anyway make sure you make it a good one what ever way you choose to celebrate and if you don't mind I would love an intro and a dance with that handsome man standing over their hope he is not spoken for also some sausage rolls and a tall glass of water with plenty of ice please and thankyou Jude so much for inviting me to your smashing party could do with a few more of these have fun everyone as I intend to make the most of it as never know when the next one with such good company will come along...

My youngest (23) just left with his mates, heading for Reading. You'll know him when you see him. He'll be the one pissed as a fart with a big grass induced grin. 28 ain't so bad Jude, it was more than half my life ago.

Whilst your at the Reading Fest - Jude could you look out for my sleeping bag - its with a lad called Dove (don't ask about his name) aged about 20 looks about 16 - acts the age of 16 when not doped up to the eyes but I can see there not being too many young men going by that name .... Only he took my sleeping beg without asking - the sleeping bag is black with a red lining and has a tag on it with the name 'Pudding' written in black ink - just rescue the sleeping bag for me please I am aware that this is an impossible request but just think of how many people you'll meet in your search

Pi...that will be my mission!!!

Anonymous's picture
and if you do find - by some chance Dove can you remind him that he owes me a pint of milk and a packet of biccies - and next time he calls remind him to bring his used batteries - he'll know why and get him to explain to you why he's called Dove Do not lend him anything if you want it back and if he offers to look after you - he really means that you have to look after him maybe it would be wiser if you don't try to find him

there again - it would be quite a mission - just think of all those people you can ask if they're Welsh and do they have my sleeping bag - and I've just being informed that the tag with 'puddings' on - might have been removed ... something to do with stigma - now what could be wrong with sleeping in a bag with 'puddings' written on a tag on its side ? some folks just do not know how to enjoy life do they ?
