Did anyone predict that Michael Howard would resign as fast as this?
Rachel

Nope, but I predict they'll choose someone with hair as the next victim (no offence TC)

I think jude could do it - another Tory scientist with a God complex... even more Thatcher like than Blair... perhaps she could unite the parties ;o)

I will be at the lib dems party in some poncy hotel supping free champers (couldn't get an invite to the tory's!) I think Labour will win but at least I get champagne.

I'd make a better shadow home secretary but I'm afraid you'd need to offer me a lot more than money for long hours and always having to wear a suit and brush my hair.

I predict that whatever the outcome, nothing will change.

Tony Blair would make a perfect Tory party leader. And in doing so, he could solve some of Labour's problems.

I think the real money comes later, Jude... after you've retired and all the industrialists - you've done favours for - donate to your institute.

I predict a Tory humiliation at the hands of the Lib Dems who will be the real gainers. Comfortable Labour win :)) The knives are already out for Howard, but who is going to replace him? Some other right wing fascist loser no doubt - why not that berk Boris, or that evil shit Redwood? There's no-one left is there? Tired, run out of steam - can't wait till their kind is pushed out of politics for good. You might have picked up that I'm not what you might call a *spit* tory.

Of course you're not drunk John, how COULD you be, CK got all the whisky!
jude

I can reveal that every weekday during the campaign, CK had a bacon sandwich and an apple for his lunch all in one of those cute paper bags with the handles. And one day he even got a special edition fruit kit kat as well. As far as I know, no drink was provided.

He's what's known as a 'secret drinker', jude, you wouldn't actually SEE him doing it, only the result.

pretty much the same as your prediction, dave, although i think oona king might just sneak bethnal green, but we won't find out for ages as the swappies demand recount after recount, and then mount a legal challenge about the postal votes there has to be some big name casualties - a few labour ministers will lose seats...how about ruth kelly, education education education minister? and a few tories, oliver letwin looks vulnerable and david davies...jack straw could have a close run , 29% of his electorate are muslim...and tony blair? from what i hear the anti-war candidate reg keys is picking up a lot of support
Emma

God I hope at least something VAGUELY interesting happens...zzzzzzzz

oh and maybe, a green mp, brighton looks the most likely, they will probably attract a good number of old labour voters who can't bring themselves to voting forthe lib dems and i think they could do very well in my constituency - stoke newington and hackney north - they got 7.5% last time, they should double that, and might come in second as the lib dem and tory vote is not too strong...
jude

Emma, I am sitting here hoping something vaguely interesting happens (so long as it isn't bad like Michael Portillos face when he lost his seat). But I fear that we are in for a dull night. Oh stop being pessimistic jude - buck up - come on old gal - tis not over til the fat lady sings. ps. I am not joking about CKs lunch - Pat's chef made it every day! I wonder what having a bacon sarnie every day for days on end says about somebody's personality.

when the polls close at 22:000 the exit poll stats can be released BUT these incorrectly predicted a labour win in 1992 when John Major won so not to be swallowed whole. Results start pouring in in thik about midnight and it will be clear who has won long after I am tucked up with Declan bear in bed!
Emma

Er, well, they paid me quite well! They're very dapper and dandy...

I wish I had things as exciting as Barbershop Singers' annual convention in my diary! enjoy!

Cheers jude...four part harmony can be a bit addictive. The lyrics leave a lot to be desired...'Taking a chance, in love with romance'...etc, but the director's bum is fabulous...;-) And they're all MAD, which makes it all worthwhile.
