What do you still do that you did when you were a kid?
When I get a chance to have some time to myself, there really isn't anything I like more than finding somewhere quiet and reading a book.
This is exactly what I did when I was a kid. I grew out of it when I was in my early teens then come about eighteen, went straight back to it.
It's exactly the same.
Has anyone else carried any habits or behaviour from their childhood directly into adulthood?
I was breast fed.
when I was 8 or so me and a mate used to steal Lp's from a local newsagent that had a small record store at the back. I remember legging it down wheelock street with a copy of Black Laces' "Party Party" album stuffed up my jumper with the shopkeeper in hot pursuit.
Before we would steal the LP's we used to literally press the LP against the outisde of our jumpers to make sure it would fit up. Often nowadays when I put on an LP I might spend a moment or two pressing it against my chest and having a little giggle and proud that Black Lace never made it into my record collection. We were young and stupid. I still visit the newsagents to this day and get on famously with him.
I still have tantrums.. probably far more than I ever did as a kid in fact. And I really really like Farleys rusks.. they are lovely to scoff. I still like to read enid blytons imaginative stuff... faraway tree and wishing chair et al.
Take things apart and put them back together. An insatiable curiosity to know how things work. I did it as a kid and I still do as an adult.
Pick my guitar in the early hours of the morning when all is silent and dark.
As a kid, I would get lost in the fast picking and forget about what ever it was that was worrying me.
I still do it now. Its a security thin I guess.
Hi John, I've never been able to put together anything that I've taken apart, but I do still luuuuuuuuuve untangling wool, or string or beads for some bizarre reason. (Half the fun of having a marionette, I seem to remember.) And Liana, I too would give Super Nanny a run for her money as far as tantrums are concerned and my sulking is second to none. Luckily I am also still easily brought round by the offer of chocolate.

I like to go fishing.
I still like to spin around - dancing in the wind. It's even better now I can do it on the beach at the edge of the sea. People probably think I'm drunk or drugged - but I can see a lot of them wish they dare do it too, but don't want to seem childish. A cool wind accentuates the awareness of the parts of the body it strikes so that as you spin you can better feel the turning.
It's what first attracted me to Whirling Dervishes. Like music, dancing is another way to feel closer to God!
I'll tell ya mine just before they perform the last rites and proceed to bury me like a push bike stand aimed at The Vatican walls!
I still throw tantrums, as I did virtually from the start. (I've never given it up.)
I gave up trainspotting in 1971, but every time I'm on the train and pass a freight yard or depot I peer out of the window to see what engines are there. But I don't write the numbers down any more.
I also liked doing that when I was a youngster, neil. But I also gave it up long ago. Spotting peculiar cars was equally great sport.
whaddya mean? I'm still a kid!!
*plays with rosary*
pick my nose.
use Mr Matey bubble bath.
pray after I've got into bed.
Making up stupid stories that aren't any good...
...sorry, just a bit down on my writing at the moment...
Also, I am, and always have been, prone to sleeping while travelling anywhere, by any means (apart from when I'm driving - mostly).
And another thing, I still can't sleep with my ears exposed. I have to have them under the covers. I did this when I was a kid because I was afriad of monsters, or somesuch.
Ear gnashing demons ain't so bad! It's them ankle biting buggers you really need to be on your guard for!
Given a chance, I like to throw pebbles, rocks, or stones--in short, whatever is available--into a lake or river and watch it splash. I could do that for hours as a kid, and givent he opportunity, same today. Other than that I still like to stare into space and daydream. It is not very productive, but it passes the time.
Enzo I am the same way about falling asleep. If I am not at the wheel I am knocked out in the passenger seat. I pass out as soon as I am on the commuter rail to work its a 50min drive so its like the best sleep EVER!
I still like Pillsbury cookies cooked till they are just a bit crisp on the outside but gooey in the middle..brownies the same way
I still love to feel on a certain type of cotton when I get stressed...It soothes me don't make fun...
I guess that is about it
I'd still lick round the bowl if I could find anyone who bakes.

I still like to play in small, fast-flowing streams and creeks, especially those with little pools and waterfalls (clearly this is difficult to do in Fenland, where water is sluggish at best). I like to wade around, stick my feet in the currents, throw little twigs in and follow them, etc.
I started reading Tolkien's stuff when I was nine. I'm on my probably 100th reading of LOTR, and I'm not tired of it yet, 26 years later.
I still have to sleep with one foot sticking out of the covers, for thermoregulation. Even in winter. I CANNOT have the covers anywhere near my face, or I feel suffocated.
Coke floats on hot summer days. They rock, man.
