#1
London event
I'm hoping to come, as I finish work at 2, and could feasibly make it. Cant promise though, as I still have to find a babysitter for the evening (as its STILL not on a weekend Tony! Friday, is NOT a weekend! People work!) and justify the amount it costs to get to London from the sticks.
Anyone else?
If I push very hard I might make it but it's looking unlikely.
£65 for an extra hours chat and sipping lemonade is a bit excessive, Tony, even for a profligate spender like me.
IS Rachel on about giving birth or attending the event...or even both?
I need to know these things?
kj - it's on Friday 24th June - look at the front page!
lou - cancel everything - we are counting on your attendance.
An extension to the bar - wahoo! I like long bars.
the saturday one was poorly attended because it was during holiday time if i recall correctly...
Sod the bowls tournament - your website needs you.
Now - everyone go out there and drag someone else along. We want this to be a very full event.
Well I'm going, and I've offered to read, but perhaps, as I read last time, I'm not allowed?
I'd like to because it really boosted my confidence last time.
So what's the deal with that? People read from their own work? I can't imagine ever having the confidence to do that.
Hats off to those that do and I'll definately be there to see it.
I'll be the guy no-one knows, sitting in the corner. Sums up my social life really... :)
Ben
I am quite a shy person, in some respects Ben, but I really enjoyed the last reading. It was a chance to hear your own words out loud, see reactions, and just enjoy the fact that you 'write' stuff and can put it out there.
Everyone was really friendly at the last event, so I doubt you'll be sitting on your own, unless that's what you want. Come and say hello to me. I'm the ginger one who looks like she likes cake.
Will do, thanks.
At the very least, it'll be interesting to put a few faces to names /pseudonyms.
I'm working the next day at 7 am so it's unlikely. But I would like to meet you Fergal and Enzo, and other people so I'll see if I can get some time off. Trouble is I'd have to leave fairly early.
I'm coming down! Anybody got any recommendations for places to stay as I can no longer get cheap deals at the Marriott?
I'm sulking. I just can't get out of a thing on Friday. It's an end of term dinner especially for the girls changing schools next year - and they've made it for mothers and daughters only! How sexist is that! You really wouldn't want to be a house husband at our school. Anyway, have a great time, I look forward to the video clips...
[%sig%]
Lou, I'm gutted.
Enzo - how good to hear that you will be coming along. I'm a big fan of yours so it will be a treat to meet you.
We need to spend at least £500 at the bar in order to get our deposit back so bring lots of people with you and fill up your drinking boots.
We can do it - you know we can!
I shall be there, I think.
First priority is replacing my ABCTales mug which I dropped on the kitchen floor last week, then I'll see if I've any money left for beer.
I'll manage that on my own Tony.
Forgot to ask: which Long Lane is it? There are several.
I'll be there. ;o)
The long one.
I'm only going if :
Hox does widescreen
George promises not to drink shandy
I'm not smiley
Stormy doesn't touch me there again
Not a lot to ask.
Ok, no shandy.
Glass of lemonade please, bartender.
Yeah, but you chaperone Stormy as well??
You kidding?
Last time he didn't even fall over!
Not once!!
He's a reformed character I tell you, the last thing he needs these days is a nappy changer.
I'll be there, but as the proposed Saturday extension has seemingly died a death, I haven't planned to stay over.
You should do! There is an extension at the bar until midnight!
i'll drag myself down there
If Martin is showing up in drag I'll be there with the video camera.
I am hoping to come. Bit too shy to read, or may be not.
I can't make it - so I'm just going to put my fingers in my ears and go, 'lalalalalalalalala' when you lot talk about it. :(
[%sig%]
Oh I'll be there this time. I might wear a silly hat!
when is it again?
"Friday, is NOT a weekend! People work!"
I don't think we're unsympathetic to this but, given that Sunday is out for people who have to work on Monday, the only day left is Saturday and we can't afford to rent a London venue on a Saturday night.
In fact, we only just about afford to do it on a Friday.
I think it's great that it is on a Friday. There was a Saturday one a couple of years ago. It was very poorly attended if I remember.
You know you want it Timmie ...
I recently said to a couple of people that I was looking doubtful - mainly on the grounds of cost and the fact that not many seemed to be going. Having read this thread I really want to go but I've a bowling tournament at 10am the next day (it was postponed from last saturday, the bastards!) and there's no way I'll up and ready if I'm in a bar in London until midnight.
What's that you say? Leave early? Don't drink? Erm, no point coming down then, is there, really?
Have fun peeps ... sorry the bar takings will be £50 short :-)
What is the comparison in the rates for a venue on a Saturday and Friday.
Bummer.
No you Colin, you're a bummer.
But I love ya.
Bummer. ****.
i can't go ...
