VOTE FOR LISA!

Lisah has got through to the next round of the Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award with Coombe's Wood (which I am sure many of you have read on here). Now she needs people to vote for it, and leave a review. High marks only please!

Go on - do it now!

Sorry Tony, I'm confused. When I followed the Amazon link it's a little bewildering. It seems to be talking about something with a length of 18 words and 8 pages. Presumably that is a mistake. Could you explain what it is we are supposed to be voting for. And what exactly it is that you want us to do? I've obviously not been paying attention.
It's Lisa's book 'Coombe's Wood' which is up for a prize on Amazon. I guess the description is 18 words or whatever - you just write a short review and give it five stars!
Thanks for the plug, Tony! If you would like to have a read and review Coombe's Wood (yes please!)first: to download text for free, look at top right hand side of page for big button. For a review, down the bottom, where the voting score is, there is a button for create your own review. You need an Amazon account, and then you go for it. Wish me luck! Lisa x
Thank you Lorraine for the link. It's the best place to go if you want to work out how ABNA works. Lisa x
Good luck Lisa. I've liked your writing for ages and it's good to see you've got some recognition. SO - tell us how it all came about. Where did you publish Coombes Wood, and who decided to shortlist you? Gareth
Hi Gareth, Not published - I wish! No, this is a competition I entered the book into. All I need now is lots of people who are willing to give up a little time to read the first few thousand words and put a review on the site. The competition is sponsored by Amazon, and the prize is a publishing contract with Penguin (I think - must go and check...) Thanks for the vote of confidence. :) Lisa
How long does it take to get the review up? I added one on Wednesday and it still isn't there. I will wait patiently!
Tony, I think they come up immediately. Did you get an error message or anything? If it's not too much trouble, please can you try again? The more reviews I get, the more chance of getting though. No reviews equals no chance at all! Lisa
Will do!
It's done - but it does give you a warning that it may not appear for up to 48 hours!
There's problem. I'm furious. Only people in the States can leave reviews. (That is those who have placed an order through Amazon.com as opposed to Amazon.co.uk) As I am in the UK, it means none of my friends or family can leave a review. :( Lots of people are complaining about it. I even tried creating a new account with an address in the States, but it must know my computer is in the UK as it still wouldn't let me review others' work or post on the forums. Some have, at least, managed to post on the forums and flog their work there. Somehow, I think the entries that get to the next stage (top ten) will all be American. :( Not that I have anything against Americans (I married one!) but it's unfair to all the international entries. Well, that's me off my soap box. I'm rather less excited about this now, as I don't see how I'll ever get into the stage. If any Americans on the site who have read my book want to leave a review, I would be very grateful. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0011ZCANI Lisa x
www.lorrainemace.com That's a real shame, Lisa. I had reading and reviewing on my list of things to do this weekend, but I only buy from Amazon.co.uk. I hope some American members vote for you.
Tony, Thank you for a fab review! A couple of people have found your review helpful - which actually helps my cause as well. Any other people who have purchased from amazon.com in the past? Lisa x
I'm not aware that I have ever bought from amazon.com - I just followed the link above - and second time lucky, it went in!
Just got my professional reviews through, and I'm dead chuffed! Have a look if you're interested: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/product-description/B0011ZCANI/ref=dp_p... Lisa x
Well done - but how funny that the insanely parochial Yank who reviewed it thinks that Reading is in Pennsylvania. Do they ever see that there's a world outside of the ruddy USA? Are they aware that we exist? And if they are aware do they just want to bomb us? Terrifying. The Americans on here restore my faith to a certain extent - but the whole place just scares me.
Yes, I was a little surprised about the reviewer not twigging that my book was set in the UK. Oh well. At least, although geographically challenged, he was still positive! Lisa
