The Shellshocked Trilogy
By bignewshound
in 2001 James Gray has quit his job as a war correspondent and sought peace and quiet with his family in the French countryside around Picardie. He is writing a novel based on the journals his grandfather kept while working as a war photographer on the Somme in 1916. When two of James' children go missing the whole village turns out to find them. But James discovers the only way to locate them is through the pages of the battered WW1 journal. James goes on a journey only he can take back into his past and the past of four generations. History repeats itself over and over and over
